13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife; and when he went in to her, the LORD enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.
2 And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife was Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem in Judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and remained there.
3 And Elimelech, Naomi's husband, died; and she was left with her two sons.
4 And they took wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they lived there about ten years.
5 And Mahlon and Chilion both died; and the woman was left without her two sons and her husband.
6 Then she arose with her daughters-in-law, to return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.
7 Therefore she went out from where she was, and her two daughters-in-law with her; and they went on the way to return to the land of Judah.
8 And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead, and with me.
9 The LORD grant you that you may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voices and wept.
10 And they said to her, Surely we will return with you to your people.
11 And Naomi said, Turn back, my daughters: why will you go with me? Are there still sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
12 Turn back, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have a husband tonight and also bear sons;
13 Would you wait for them till they were grown? Would you restrain yourselves from having husbands? No, my daughters; for it grieves me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD has gone out against me.
14 And they lifted up their voices and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth held onto her.
15 And she said, Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods: return after your sister-in-law.

3 So she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers, and her chance was to happen upon a part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
4 And behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless you.
5 Then Boaz said to his servant who was set over the reapers, Whose young woman is this?
6 And the servant who was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish young woman who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab.
7 And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves. So she came and has continued even from the morning until now, except she rested a little in the house.
8 Then Boaz said to Ruth, Do you not hear, my daughter? Do not go to glean in another field or leave this place, but stay here close to my maidens.

If you will redeem it, redeem it; but if not, tell me, so that I may know, for there is no one to redeem it besides you, and I come after you.' And he said, 'I will redeem it.'
5 Then Boaz said, 'The day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must also acquire Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of the deceased, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance.'
9 And he said, Who are you? And she answered, I am Ruth your handmaid: spread therefore your skirt over your handmaid; for you are a near kinsman.
10 And he said, Blessed are you of the LORD, my daughter: for you have shown more kindness at the end than at the beginning, inasmuch as you followed not young men, whether poor or rich.
11 And Boaz answered and said to her, It has fully been shown to me all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people which you did not know before.
19 So the two of them went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they had come to Bethlehem, that all the city was stirred because of them, and they said, Is this Naomi?
20 And she said to them, Do not call me Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.
21 I went out full, and the LORD has brought me back empty: why then call me Naomi, seeing the LORD has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?
22 So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter-in-law, with her, who returned from the country of Moab: and they came to Bethlehem at the beginning of barley harvest.
13 Then she said, Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, for you have comforted me, and you have spoken kindly to your servant, though I am not like one of your servant girls.
15 And when she rose up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and do not reproach her.
12 And now it is true that I am your near kinsman: however there is a kinsman nearer than I.
