5Then Boaz said, 'The day you buy the field from the hand of Naomi, you must also acquire Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of the deceased, to raise up the name of the dead on his inheritance.'
6The kinsman replied, 'I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I jeopardize my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption for yourself, for I cannot redeem it.'
13Then she said, Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, for you have comforted me, and you have spoken kindly to your servant, though I am not like one of your servant girls.
1And Naomi had a relative of her husband's, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz.
2And Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, Let me now go to the field and glean ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favor. And she said to her, Go, my daughter.
3So she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers, and her chance was to happen upon a part of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
12And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
13And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her, This is your kindness which you shall show unto me; at every place where we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
16And when she came to her mother-in-law, she said, Who are you, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
17And she said, These six measures of barley he gave me; for he said to me, Go not empty to your mother-in-law.
18Then she said, Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out: for the man will not rest until he has finished the thing this day.
40But he said to me, 'The LORD, before whom I walk, will send His angel with you and prosper your way; and you shall take a wife for my son from my kindred and from my father's house.
41You will be clear from this oath when you arrive among my family, for if they will not give her to you, then you will be released from my oath.'
37Now my master made me swear, saying, 'You shall not take a wife for my son from the daughters of the Canaanites, in whose land I dwell;
38but you shall go to my father's house and to my kindred, and take a wife for my son.'
14Then the women said to Naomi, 'Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without a kinsman, and may his name be famous in Israel.
15He shall be a restorer of your life and a provider for your old age; for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, who is better to you than seven sons, has given birth to him.'
8And Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, Go, return each to her mother's house: the LORD deal kindly with you, as you have dealt with the dead, and with me.
9The LORD grant you that you may find rest, each of you in the house of her husband. Then she kissed them; and they lifted up their voices and wept.
10And they said to her, Surely we will return with you to your people.
11And Naomi said, Turn back, my daughters: why will you go with me? Are there still sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?
12Turn back, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have a husband tonight and also bear sons;
13Would you wait for them till they were grown? Would you restrain yourselves from having husbands? No, my daughters; for it grieves me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD has gone out against me.
10Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, Why have I found favor in your eyes, that you should take notice of me, seeing I am a stranger?
11And Boaz answered and said to her, It has fully been shown to me all that you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and have come to a people which you did not know before.
1Then Boaz went up to the gate and sat down there; and behold, the kinsman of whom Boaz spoke came by. Boaz said to him, 'Come over here, sit down.' So he turned aside and sat down.
12Now therefore, I pray, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shown you kindness, that you will also show kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:
5Then Boaz said to his servant who was set over the reapers, Whose young woman is this?
6And the servant who was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish young woman who came back with Naomi from the country of Moab.
8So the kinsman said to Boaz, 'Buy it for yourself.' And he removed his sandal.
10Moreover, Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon, I have acquired as my wife to raise up the name of the deceased on his inheritance, so that his name will not be cut off from his brethren or from the gate of his place. You are witnesses this day.'
11And all the people at the gate and the elders said, 'We are witnesses. May the LORD make the woman coming into your house like Rachel and Leah, who together built up the house of Israel. May you act worthily in Ephrathah and be renowned in Bethlehem.
15And she said, Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods: return after your sister-in-law.
12The LORD judge between me and you, and the LORD avenge me of you; but my hand shall not be upon you.
2Her father said, I truly thought you hated her; therefore I gave her to your companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? Take her instead, I ask you.
8Then Boaz said to Ruth, Do you not hear, my daughter? Do not go to glean in another field or leave this place, but stay here close to my maidens.
