Then he said to me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: for everyone who steals shall be cut off according to it on this side; and everyone who swears shall be cut off according to it on that side.

4 Or if a person swears, speaking falsely with his lips to do evil or to do good, whatever it is that a person may pronounce with an oath, and it is hidden from him; when he becomes aware of it, then he shall be guilty in any of these matters.
3 And say to the land of Israel, Thus says the LORD; Behold, I am against you, and will draw forth my sword out of its sheath, and will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked.
4 Seeing then that I will cut off from you the righteous and the wicked, therefore shall my sword go forth out of its sheath against all flesh from the south to the north:
2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and bloodshed follows bloodshed.
31 Because he has despised the word of the LORD, and has broken His commandment, that soul shall be completely cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

19 And it comes to pass, when he hears the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of my heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
20 The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.
17 And there shall cling nothing of the cursed thing to your hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show you mercy, and have compassion upon you, and multiply you, as he has sworn to your fathers;
5 But if you will not hear these words, I swear by myself, says the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.
12 But above all things, my brethren, do not swear, neither by heaven, nor by the earth, nor by any other oath: but let your 'yes' be 'yes,' and your 'no,' 'no'; lest you fall into condemnation.
15 And it shall be, that he who is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he has: because he has transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he has done foolishness in Israel.
