5Listen, my dear brothers and sisters! Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he promised to those who love him?
18Guard against self-deception, each of you. If someone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become foolish so that he can become wise.
19For the wisdom of this age is foolishness with God. As it is written,“He catches the wise in their craftiness.”
20And again,“The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile.”
21So then, no more boasting about mere mortals! For everything belongs to you,
24Look, you are nothing, and your accomplishments are nonexistent; the one who chooses to worship you is disgusting.
4For he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world that we should be holy and blameless before him in love.
5He did this by predestining us to adoption as his legal heirs through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will–
6to the praise of the glory of his grace that he has freely bestowed on us in his dearly loved Son.

8None of the rulers of this age understood it. If they had known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
9But just as it is written,“Things that no eye has seen, or ear heard, or mind imagined, are the things God has prepared for those who love him.”
10God has revealed these to us by the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
23And what if he is willing to make known the wealth of his glory on the objects of mercy that he has prepared beforehand for glory–

30And those he predestined, he also called; and those he called, he also justified; and those he justified, he also glorified.
20For since the creation of the world his invisible attributes– his eternal power and divine nature– have been clearly seen, because they are understood through what has been made. So people are without excuse.
9you whom I am bringing back from the earth’s extremities, and have summoned from the remote regions– I told you,“You are my servant.” I have chosen you and not rejected you.
14The unbeliever does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him. And he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

23and those members we consider less honorable we clothe with greater honor, and our unpresentable members are clothed with dignity,
45You make us like filthy scum in the estimation of the nations.
