14 David said to Gad,“I am very upset! I prefer that we be attacked by the LORD, for his mercy is great; I do not want to be attacked by men!”
25 David did just as the LORD commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines from Gibeon all the way to Gezer.
18 Now David had run away and escaped. He went to Samuel in Ramah and told him everything that Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went and stayed at Naioth.

16 Some from Benjamin and Judah also came to David’s stronghold.
28 Look, I will be waiting at the fords of the desert until word from you reaches me.”
14 So David again asked God what he should do. This time God told him,“Don’t march up after them; circle around them and come against them in front of the trees.
