1 ¶ Introduction The following is a record of what Amos prophesied. He was one of the herdsmen from Tekoa. These prophecies about Israel were revealed to him during the time of King Uzziah of Judah and King Jeroboam son of Joash of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2 God Will Judge the Surrounding Nations Amos said:“The LORD comes roaring out of Zion; from Jerusalem he comes bellowing! The shepherds’ pastures wilt; the summit of Carmel withers.”
15 He then said to him,“Come home with me and eat something.”
10 You thoroughly defeated Edom and it has gone to your head! Gloat over your success, but stay in your palace. Why bring calamity on yourself? Why bring down yourself and Judah along with you?”
11 But Amaziah would not heed the warning, so King Jehoash of Israel attacked. He and King Amaziah of Judah met face to face in Beth Shemesh of Judah.

15 The LORD was angry at Amaziah and sent a prophet to him, who said,“Why are you following these gods that could not deliver their own people from your power?”
16 While he was speaking, Amaziah said to him,“Did we appoint you to be a royal counselor? Stop prophesying or else you will be killed!” So the prophet stopped, but added,“I know that God has decided to destroy you, because you have done this thing and refused to listen to my advice.”
17 After King Amaziah of Judah consulted with his advisers, he sent this message to the king of Israel, Joash son of Jehoahaz, the son of Jehu,“Come, face me on the battlefield.”

2 He said,“What do you see, Amos?” I replied,“A basket of summer fruit.” Then the LORD said to me,“The end has come for my people Israel! I will no longer overlook their sins.
4 He said to me,“Son of man, go to the house of Israel and speak my words to them.
1 The LORD told me,“Go down to the palace of the king of Judah. Give him a message from me there.
13 Then I said,“Oh, Sovereign LORD, look! The prophets are telling them that you said,‘You will not experience war or suffer famine. I will give you lasting peace and prosperity in this land.’”

8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel. He said,“Come, let’s meet face to face.”
11 Be certain of this, the time is coming,” says the Sovereign LORD,“when I will send a famine through the land– not a shortage of food or water but an end to divine revelation!
1 Elisha Again Helps the Shunammite Woman Now Elisha advised the woman whose son he had brought back to life,“You and your family should go and live somewhere else for a while, for the LORD has decreed that a famine will overtake the land for seven years.”
26 Then the king of Israel said,“Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the city official and Joash the king’s son.
27 From the time Amaziah turned from following the LORD, conspirators plotted against him in Jerusalem, so he fled to Lachish. But they sent assassins after him and they killed him there.
6 ‘Don’t preach with such impassioned rhetoric,’ they say excitedly.‘These prophets should not preach of such things; we will not be overtaken by humiliation.’

15 If you people who remain in Judah do that, then listen to the LORD’s message. This is what the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel has said,‘If you are so determined to go to Egypt that you go and settle there,
