in the first year of his reign I, Daniel, came to understand from the sacred books that the number of years for the fulfilling of the desolation of Jerusalem, which had come as the LORD’s message to the prophet Jeremiah, would be 70 years.

    15An Angel Interprets Daniel’s Vision“As for me, Daniel, my spirit was distressed, and the visions of my mind were alarming me.

    16I approached one of those standing nearby and asked him about the meaning of all this. So he spoke with me and revealed to me the interpretation of the vision:

The prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon, spoke to Jeremiah in the LORD’s temple in the presence of the priests and all the people.

  • 7Ten days later the LORD’s message came to Jeremiah.

  • 27I, Daniel, was exhausted and sick for days. Then I got up and again carried out the king’s business. But I was astonished at the vision, and there was no one to explain it.

  • 12Then he said to me,“Don’t be afraid, Daniel, for from the very first day you applied your mind to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard. I have come in response to your words.

  • 1During Jehoiakim’s reign, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon attacked. Jehoiakim was his subject for three years, but then he rebelled against him.

  • 15This took place on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month of King Darius’ second year.

  • 28So this Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian.
