4A Living Stone, a Chosen People So as you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but chosen and precious in God’s sight,
5you yourselves, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood and to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
9But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
10You once were not a people, but now you are God’s people. You were shown no mercy, but now you have received mercy.
11Dear friends, I urge you as foreigners and exiles to keep away from fleshly desires that do battle against the soul,

8For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God;

7Therefore do not be sharers with them,
8for you were at one time darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live like children of light–
20But our citizenship is in heaven– and we also eagerly await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,

18– since the eyes of your heart have been enlightened– so that you can know what is the hope of his calling, what is the wealth of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female– for all of you are one in Christ Jesus.
11Some of you once lived this way. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
19He has not held fast to the head from whom the whole body, supported and knit together through its ligaments and sinews, grows with a growth that is from God.

15so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God without blemish though you live in a crooked and perverse society, in which you shine as lights in the world
13And even though you were dead in your transgressions and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, he nevertheless made you alive with him, having forgiven all your transgressions.
