9The LORD of Heaven’s Armies told me this:“Many houses will certainly become desolate, large, impressive houses will have no one living in them.
19The one who works his land will be satisfied with food, but whoever chases daydreams will have his fill of poverty.
9You are bound for judgment because you are robbing me– this whole nation is guilty.
10“Bring the entire tithe into the storehouse so that there may be food in my temple. Test me in this matter,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies,“to see if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out blessing for you until there is no room for it all.

11Be distressed, farmers; wail, vinedressers, over the wheat and the barley. For the harvest of the field has perished.
3They lament,‘Why don’t you notice when we fast? Why don’t you pay attention when we humble ourselves?’ Look, at the same time you fast, you satisfy your selfish desires, you oppress your workers.
5Threshing season will extend for you until the season for harvesting grapes, and the season for harvesting grapes will extend until sowing season, so you will eat your bread until you are satisfied, and you will live securely in your land.
10They will eat, but not be satisfied; they will engage in prostitution, but not increase in numbers; because they have abandoned the LORD by pursuing other gods.
7So, now the LORD says,‘You have not listened to me. But you have made me angry by the things that you have done. Thus you have brought harm on yourselves.’
6“But surely I gave you no food to eat in all your cities; you lacked food everywhere you live. Still you did not come back to me.” The LORD is speaking!
5“If thieves came to rob you during the night, they would steal only as much as they wanted! If grape pickers came to harvest your vineyards, they would leave some behind for the poor! But you will be totally destroyed!
7I want you to share your food with the hungry and to provide shelter for homeless, oppressed people. When you see someone naked, clothe him! Don’t turn your back on your own flesh and blood!
