LORD, I know you look for faithfulness. But even when you punish these people, they feel no remorse. Even when you nearly destroy them, they refuse to be corrected. They have become as hardheaded as a rock. They refuse to change their ways.

  • 35Even when they were in their kingdom and benefiting from your incredible goodness that you had lavished on them in the spacious and fertile land you had set before them, they did not serve you, nor did they turn from their evil practices.

  • 6They do one act of violence after another, and one deceitful thing after another. They refuse to pay attention to me,” says the LORD.

  • 3The Lord Laments That He Has No Choice But to Judge Them The LORD says,“These people are like soldiers who have readied their bows. Their tongues are always ready to shoot out lies. They have become powerful in the land, but they have not done so by honest means. Indeed, they do one evil thing after another and do not pay attention to me.

  • 5For they do not understand the LORD’s actions, or the way he carries out justice. The LORD will permanently demolish them.

  • 26But your ancestors did not listen to me nor pay attention to me. They became obstinate and were more wicked than even their own forefathers.’”

  • 24Correct us, LORD, but only in due measure. Do not punish us in anger or you will reduce us to nothing.

  • 7I thought,‘Certainly you will respect me! Now you will accept correction!’ If she had done so, her home would not be destroyed by all the punishments I have threatened. But they eagerly sinned in everything they did.

  • 12“These people have denied what the LORD says. They have said,‘That is not so! No harm will come to us. We will not experience war and famine.

  • 7So, now the LORD says,‘You have not listened to me. But you have made me angry by the things that you have done. Thus you have brought harm on yourselves.’
