So tell them:‘This is a nation that has not obeyed the LORD their God and has not accepted correction. Faithfulness is nowhere to be found in it. These people do not even profess it anymore.

Friendly words for their neighbors come from their mouths. But their minds are thinking up ways to trap them.

  • 6‘Don’t preach with such impassioned rhetoric,’ they say excitedly.‘These prophets should not preach of such things; we will not be overtaken by humiliation.’

  • 14Justice is driven back; godliness stands far off. Indeed, honesty stumbles in the city square and morality is not even able to enter.

  • 6You have destroyed my people by failing to acknowledge me! Because you refuse to acknowledge me, I will reject you as my priests. Because you reject the law of your God, I will reject your descendants.

  • 17But I will completely uproot and destroy any of those nations that will not pay heed,’” says the LORD.
