Peter and the Disciple Jesus Loved Peter turned around and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them.(This was the disciple who had leaned back against Jesus’ chest at the meal and asked,“Lord, who is the one who is going to betray you?”)

    19 (Now Jesus said this to indicate clearly by what kind of death Peter was going to glorify God.) After he said this, Jesus told Peter,“Follow me.”

    22 For the Son of Man is to go just as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”

    23 So they began to question one another as to which of them it could possibly be who would do this.

    1 Washing the Disciples’ Feet Just before the Passover Feast, Jesus knew that his time had come to depart from this world to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now loved them to the very end.
