When the Canaanites and all who live in the land hear about this, they will turn against us and destroy the very memory of us from the earth. What will you do to protect your great reputation?”

    11When we heard the news we lost our courage and no one could even breathe for fear of you. For the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on earth below!

  • 1The Dispossession of Nonvassals When the LORD your God brings you to the land that you are going to occupy and forces out many nations before you– Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites, and Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and powerful than you–

  • 10Then all the peoples of the earth will see that you belong to the LORD, and they will respect you.

  • 3As for the LORD your God, he is about to cross over before you; he will destroy these nations before you and you will dispossess them. As for Joshua, he is about to cross before you just as the LORD has said.

  • 24The people said to Joshua,“We will worship the LORD our God and obey him.”

  • 7The LORD told Joshua,“This very day I will begin to honor you before all Israel so they will know that I am with you just as I was with Moses.

  • 18The LORD drove out from before us all the nations, including the Amorites who lived in the land. So we too will worship the LORD, for he is our God!”

  • 17If you think,“These nations are more numerous than I– how can I dispossess them?”

  • 6The LORD told Joshua,“Don’t be afraid of them, for about this time tomorrow I will cause all of them to lie dead before Israel. You must hamstring their horses and burn their chariots.”

  • 9I was with you wherever you went, and I defeated all your enemies before you. Now I will make you as famous as the great men of the earth.
