14The Consequences of Disobedience“‘If, however, you do not obey me and keep all these commandments–

23“‘If in spite of these things you do not allow yourselves to be disciplined and you walk in hostility against me,
24I myself will also walk in hostility against you and strike you seven times on account of your sins.
25I will bring on you an avenging sword, a covenant vengeance. Although you will gather together into your cities, I will send pestilence among you and you will be given into enemy hands.
27“‘If in spite of this you do not obey me but walk in hostility against me,
28I will walk in hostile rage against you and I myself will also discipline you seven times on account of your sins.
14So look, the LORD is about to severely afflict your people, your sons, your wives, and all you own.
59then the LORD will increase your punishments and those of your descendants– great and long-lasting afflictions and severe, enduring illnesses.

3The Benefits of Obedience“‘If you walk in my statutes and are sure to obey my commandments,
41(and I myself will walk in hostility against them and bring them into the land of their enemies), and then their uncircumcised hearts become humbled and they make up for their iniquity,

19“Or suppose I were to send a plague into that land, and pour out my rage on it with bloodshed, killing both people and animals.
4Pharaoh will not listen to you. I will reach into Egypt and bring out my regiments, my people the Israelites, from the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment.
19“But if you people ever turn away from me, fail to obey the regulations and rules I instructed you to keep, and decide to serve and worship other gods,
15For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with plague, and you would have been destroyed from the earth.
22The generation to come– your descendants who will rise up after you, as well as the foreigner who will come from distant places– will see the afflictions of that land and the illnesses that the LORD has brought on it.
15For if you turn away from following him, he will once again abandon them in the wilderness, and you will be the reason for their destruction.”
