42The Lord replied,“Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his household servants, to give them their allowance of food at the proper time?
43Blessed is that slave whom his master finds at work when he returns.
24Then the one who had received the one talent came and said,‘Sir, I knew that you were a hard man, harvesting where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter seed,
25so I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’
26But his master answered,‘Evil and lazy slave! So you knew that I harvest where I didn’t sow and gather where I didn’t scatter?
27Then you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have received my money back with interest!
7“Would any one of you say to your slave who comes in from the field after plowing or shepherding sheep,‘Come at once and sit down for a meal’?
8Won’t the master instead say to him,‘Get my dinner ready, and make yourself ready to serve me while I eat and drink. Then you may eat and drink’?
20Then another slave came and said,‘Sir, here is your mina that I put away for safekeeping in a piece of cloth.
21For I was afraid of you, because you are a severe man. You withdraw what you did not deposit and reap what you did not sow.’
22The king said to him,‘I will judge you by your own words, you wicked slave! So you knew, did you, that I was a severe man, withdrawing what I didn’t deposit and reaping what I didn’t sow?
23Why then didn’t you put my money in the bank, so that when I returned I could have collected it with interest?’
24And he said to his attendants,‘Take the mina from him, and give it to the one who has ten.’
18But the one who had received one talent went out and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money in it.
14Then after he had spent everything, a severe famine took place in that country, and he began to be in need.
15So he went and worked for one of the citizens of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs.
16He was longing to eat the carob pods the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.
17But when he came to his senses he said,‘How many of my father’s hired workers have food enough to spare, but here I am dying from hunger!
11If then you haven’t been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will entrust you with the true riches?
12And if you haven’t been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you your own?
13No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
21So the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the master of the household was furious and said to his slave,‘Go out quickly to the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’
19I am no longer worthy to be called your son; treat me like one of your hired workers.”’
45But if that slave should say to himself,‘My master is delayed in returning,’ and he begins to beat the other slaves, both men and women, and to eat, drink, and get drunk,
46then the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not foresee, and will cut him in two, and assign him a place with the unfaithful.
25Because he was not able to repay it, the lord ordered him to be sold, along with his wife, children, and whatever he possessed, and repayment to be made.
26Then the slave threw himself to the ground before him, saying,‘Be patient with me, and I will repay you everything.’
31When his fellow slaves saw what had happened, they were very upset and went and told their lord everything that had taken place.
32Then his lord called the first slave and said to him,‘Evil slave! I forgave you all that debt because you begged me!
12Therefore he said,“A nobleman went to a distant country to receive for himself a kingdom and then return.
28After he went out, that same slave found one of his fellow slaves who owed him one hundred silver coins. So he grabbed him by the throat and started to choke him, saying,‘Pay back what you owe me!’
47I tell you the truth, the master will put him in charge of all his possessions.
48But if that evil slave should say to himself,‘My master is staying away a long time,’
30And throw that worthless slave into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
16He will come and destroy those tenants and give the vineyard to others.” When the people heard this, they said,“May this never happen!”
26‘I tell you that everyone who has will be given more, but from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
13Then the owner of the vineyard said,‘What should I do? I will send my one dear son; perhaps they will respect him.’
