1 Workers in the Vineyard“For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard.
2 And after agreeing with the workers for the standard wage, he sent them into his vineyard.
3 When it was about nine o’clock in the morning, he went out again and saw others standing around in the marketplace without work.
4 He said to them,‘You go into the vineyard too, and I will give you whatever is right.’

45 But if that slave should say to himself,‘My master is delayed in returning,’ and he begins to beat the other slaves, both men and women, and to eat, drink, and get drunk,
46 then the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he does not foresee, and will cut him in two, and assign him a place with the unfaithful.

26 But his master answered,‘Evil and lazy slave! So you knew that I harvest where I didn’t sow and gather where I didn’t scatter?
21 So the slave came back and reported this to his master. Then the master of the household was furious and said to his slave,‘Go out quickly to the streets and alleys of the city, and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind, and the lame.’
10 So you too, when you have done everything you were commanded to do, should say,‘We are slaves undeserving of special praise; we have only done what was our duty.’”
35 But the tenants seized his slaves, beat one, killed another, and stoned another.
36 Again he sent other slaves, more than the first, and they treated them the same way.
37 Finally he sent his son to them, saying,‘They will respect my son.’
40 Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?”
