21So Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border; therefore Israel turned away from him.
22Aaron’s Death So the entire company of Israelites traveled from Kadesh and came to Mount Hor.
23And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom. He said:
11and they said to Moses,“Is it because there are no graves in Egypt that you have taken us away to die in the desert? What in the world have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt?
12Isn’t this what we told you in Egypt,‘Leave us alone so that we can serve the Egyptians, because it is better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!’”
8So we turned away from our relatives the descendants of Esau, the inhabitants of Seir, turning from the route of the rift valley which comes up from Elat and Ezion Geber, and traveling the way of the wilderness of Moab.

6But the Egyptians mistreated and oppressed us, forcing us to do burdensome labor.
9Moses told this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and hard labor.
10Then the LORD said to Moses,

39When Moses told these things to all the Israelites, the people mourned greatly.
15Then Moses spoke to the LORD:
13These are the waters of Meribah, because the Israelites contended with the LORD, and his holiness was maintained among them.
2And all the Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them,“If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had perished in this wilderness!
4Why have you brought up the LORD’s community into this wilderness? So that we and our cattle should die here?
8Your fathers did the same thing when I sent them from Kadesh Barnea to see the land.
29The Appeal to Hobab Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel, the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law,“We are journeying to the place about which the LORD said,‘I will give it to you.’ Come with us and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things for Israel.”
4Instruct these people as follows:‘You are about to cross the border of your relatives the descendants of Esau, who inhabit Seir. They will be afraid of you, so watch yourselves carefully.
2So the people contended with Moses, and they said,“Give us water to drink!” Moses said to them,“Why do you contend with me? Why do you test the LORD?”
3But the people were very thirsty there for water, and they murmured against Moses and said,“Why in the world did you bring us up from Egypt– to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?”
40But as for you, turn back and head for the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea.”
