  • Ezek 23:2-9 : 2 Son of man, there were two women, the daughters of one mother: 3 And they committed harlotry in Egypt; they committed harlotry in their youth: there their breasts were pressed, and there they bruised the nipples of their virginity. 4 And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bore sons and daughters. Thus were their names: Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah. 5 And Aholah played the harlot while she was mine; and she lusted after her lovers, after the Assyrians her neighbors, 6 Who were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men, horsemen riding upon horses. 7 Thus she committed her harlotries with them, with all the choice men of Assyria, and with all on whom she lusted: with all their idols she defiled herself. 8 She did not leave her harlotries brought from Egypt: for in her youth they lay with her, and they bruised the breasts of her virginity, and poured their harlotry upon her. 9 Therefore I delivered her into the hand of her lovers, into the hand of the Assyrians, upon whom she lusted. 10 They uncovered her nakedness: they took her sons and her daughters, and killed her with the sword: and she became notorious among women; for they had executed judgment upon her. 11 And when her sister Aholibah saw this, she was more corrupt in her lust than she, and in her harlotries more than her sister in her harlotries. 12 She lusted upon the Assyrians her neighbors, captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously, horsemen riding upon horses, all of them desirable young men. 13 Then I saw that she was defiled, that they both followed the same way, 14 And that she increased her harlotries: for when she saw men portrayed upon the wall, the images of the Chaldeans portrayed with vermilion, 15 Girded with sashes upon their loins, excellently attired upon their heads, all of them looking like princes, after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity: 16 And as soon as she saw them with her eyes, she lusted upon them, and sent messengers to them into Chaldea.
  • Hos 4:1-3 : 1 Hear the word of the LORD, you children of Israel, for the LORD has a dispute with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. 3 Therefore the land shall mourn, and everyone that dwells therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field and the birds of heaven; yes, the fish of the sea also shall be taken away.

If it does yield, strangers shall swallow it up. 8 Israel is swallowed up; now they shall be among the Gentiles as a vessel in which is no pleasure. 9 For they have gone up to Assyria, like a wild donkey alone by itself; Ephraim has hired lovers. 10 Yes, though they have hired among the nations, now I will gather them, and they shall sorrow a little for the burden of the king of princes. 11 Because Ephraim has made many altars to sin, altars shall be to him for sin. 12 I have written for him the great things of my law, but they were considered a strange thing. 13 They sacrifice flesh for the sacrifices of my offerings, and eat it, but the LORD does not accept them; now he will remember their iniquity and visit their sins. • Deut 32:15-52 : 15 But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked: you have grown fat, you have grown thick, you are covered with fatness; then he forsook God who made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. 16 They provoked him to jealousy with foreign gods, with abominations they provoked him to anger. 17 They sacrificed to demons, not to God; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. 18 Of the Rock that begot you, you are unmindful, and have forgotten God who formed you. 19 And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. 20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very perverse generation, children in whom there is no faith. 21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their idols: and I will move them to jealousy with those who are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. 22 For a fire is kindled in my anger, and shall burn to the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap disasters upon them; I will use up my arrows against them. 24 They shall be wasted with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. 25 The sword outside, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the nursing child also with the man of gray hairs. 26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men: 27 Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should misbehave themselves, and lest they should say, Our hand is high, and the LORD has not done all this. 28 For they are a nation void of counsel, nor is there any understanding in them. 29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! 30 How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had delivered them up? 31 For their rock is not like our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges. 32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter: 33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. 34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures? 35 To me belong vengeance, and recompense; their foot shall slip in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. 36 For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left. 37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted, 38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you, and be your protection. 39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: nor is there any that can deliver out of my hand. 40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live forever. 41 If I sharpen my glittering sword, and my hand takes hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to my enemies, and will reward those who hate me. 42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenge upon the enemy. 43 Rejoice, O nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful to his land, and to his people. 44 And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun. 45 And Moses finished speaking all these words to all Israel: 46 And he said to them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you today, which you shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. 47 For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing you shall prolong your days in the land which you go over Jordan to possess it. 48 And the LORD spoke to Moses that same day, saying, 49 Go up into the mountain Abarim, to Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is opposite Jericho; and behold the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel for a possession: 50 And die on the mountain where you go up, and be gathered to your people; as Aaron your brother died on Mount Hor, and was gathered to his people: 51 Because you trespassed against me among the children of Israel at the waters of Meribah-Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because you did not sanctify me in the midst of the children of Israel. 52 Yet you shall see the land before you; but you shall not go there to the land which I give the children of Israel.

  • Exod 14:15-30 : 15 And the LORD said to Moses, Why do you cry to me? speak to the children of Israel, that they go forward: 16 But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. 17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will gain honor over Pharaoh, and over all his host, over his chariots, and over his horsemen. 18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am the LORD, when I have gained honor over Pharaoh, over his chariots, and over his horsemen. 19 And the angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them, and stood behind them: 20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one did not come near the other all night. 21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left. 23 And the Egyptians pursued, and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh's horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24 And it came to pass, that in the morning watch the LORD looked unto the host of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and troubled the host of the Egyptians, 25 And took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them heavily: so that the Egyptians said, Let us flee from the face of Israel; for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians. 26 And the LORD said to Moses, Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen. 27 And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its strength when the morning appeared; and the Egyptians fled against it; and the LORD overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. 28 And the waters returned, and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them; not so much as one of them remained. 29 But the children of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left. 30 Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.
