Is this of your whoredoms a small matter, 21 That you have slain my children and delivered them to cause them to pass through the fire for them? 22 And in all your abominations and your whoredoms you have not remembered the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, and were polluted in your blood. 23 And it came to pass after all your wickedness, (woe, woe unto you! says the Lord GOD;) 24 That you have also built yourself an eminent place, and have made yourself a high place in every street. 25 You have built your high place at every head of the way, and have made your beauty to be abhorred, and have opened your feet to everyone that passed by, and multiplied your whoredoms. 26 You have also committed fornication with the Egyptians, your neighbors, great of flesh; and have increased your whoredoms, to provoke me to anger. 27 Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over you, and have diminished your ordinary food, and delivered you to the will of those that hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your lewd way. 28 You have played the harlot also with the Assyrians, because you were insatiable; yes, you have played the harlot with them, and yet could not be satisfied. 29 You have moreover multiplied your fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea, and yet you were not satisfied with this. 30 How weak is your heart, says the Lord GOD, seeing you do all these things, the work of an imperious, whorish woman; 31 In that you build your eminent place at the head of every way, and make your high place in every street; and have not been as a harlot, that scorns payment; 32 But as a wife that commits adultery, who takes strangers instead of her husband! 33 They give gifts to all harlots, but you give your gifts to all your lovers, and hire them, that they may come to you on every side for your whoredom. 34 And the opposite is in you from other women in your whoredoms, in that none pursue you to commit whoredoms; and in that you give a reward, and no reward is given to you, therefore you are contrary. 35 Therefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD; 36 Thus says the Lord GOD; Because your filthiness was poured out, and your nakedness uncovered through your whoredoms with your lovers, and with all the idols of your abominations, and by the blood of your children, which you gave to them: 37 Behold, therefore I will gather all your lovers, with whom you have taken pleasure, and all those that you have loved, with all those that you have hated; I will even gather them round about against you, and will uncover your nakedness unto them, that they may see all your nakedness. 38 And I will judge you, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give you blood in fury and jealousy. 39 And I will also give you into their hand, and they shall throw down your eminent place, and shall break down your high places; they shall strip you also of your clothes, and shall take your beautiful jewels, and leave you naked and bare. 40 They shall also bring up an assembly against you, and they shall stone you with stones, and thrust you through with their swords. 41 And they shall burn your houses with fire, and execute judgments upon you in the sight of many women; and I will cause you to cease from playing the harlot, and you also shall give no remuneration any more. 42 So will I make my fury toward you to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from you, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry. 43 Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, but have grieved me in all these things; behold, therefore I will recompense your way upon your head, says the Lord GOD; and you shall not commit this lewdness above all your abominations. 44 Behold, everyone that uses proverbs shall use this proverb against you, saying, As is the mother, so is her daughter. 45 You are your mother's daughter, that loathes her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathe their husbands and their children; your mother was a Hittite, and your father an Amorite. 46 And your elder sister is Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at your left hand; and your younger sister, that dwells at your right hand, is Sodom and her daughters. 47 Yet you have not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations; but, as if that were a very little thing, you were corrupted more than they in all your ways. 48 As I live, says the Lord GOD, neither has your sister Sodom and her daughters done anything as you have done, you and your daughters. 49 Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. 50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit. 51 Neither has Samaria committed half of your sins; but you have multiplied your abominations more than they, and have justified your sisters in all your abominations which you have done. 52 You also, who have judged your sisters, bear your own shame for your sins that you have committed more abominable than they; they are more righteous than you; yes, be also confounded, and bear your shame, in that you have justified your sisters. 53 When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then will I bring again the captivity of your captives in the midst of them; 54 That you may bear your own shame, and may be confounded in all that you have done, in that you are a comfort unto them. 55 When your sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former state, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former state, then you and your daughters shall return to your former state. 56 For your sister Sodom was not mentioned by your mouth in the day of your pride, 57 Before your wickedness was discovered, as at the time of your reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all that are round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, who despise you round about. 58 You have borne your lewdness and your abominations, says the LORD. 59 For thus says the Lord GOD; I will even deal with you as you have done, who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant. 60 Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish unto you an everlasting covenant. 61 Then you shall remember your ways, and be ashamed, when you shall receive your sisters, your elder and your younger; and I will give them unto you for daughters, but not by your covenant. 62 And I will establish my covenant with you; and you shall know that I am the LORD: 63 That you may remember, and be confounded, and never open your mouth anymore because of your shame, when I am pacified toward you for all that you have done, says the Lord GOD.
  • Ezek 20:1-9 : 1 And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the LORD, and sat before me. 2 Then came the word of the LORD to me, saying, 3 Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Have you come to inquire of me? As I live, says the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you. 4 Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Make them know the abominations of their fathers: 5 And say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up my hand to the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up my hand to them, saying, I am the LORD your God; 6 In the day that I lifted up my hand to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had spied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands: 7 Then I said to them, Cast away every man the abominations of his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. 8 But they rebelled against me, and would not listen to me: they did not cast away every man the abominations of their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt. 9 But I acted for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known to them, in bringing them out of the land of Egypt. 10 Therefore I caused them to go out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness. 11 And I gave them my statutes, and showed them my judgments, which if a man does, he shall even live in them. 12 Moreover I also gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them. 13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they did not walk in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man does, he shall even live in them; and they greatly polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them. 14 But I acted for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out. 15 Yet also I lifted up my hand to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands; 16 Because they despised my judgments, and did not walk in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols. 17 Nevertheless my eye spared them from destroying them, nor did I make an end of them in the wilderness. 18 But I said to their children in the wilderness, Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols: 19 I am the LORD your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; 20 And hallow my sabbaths, and they shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God. 21 Nevertheless the children rebelled against me: they did not walk in my statutes, nor kept my judgments to do them, which if a man does, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness. 22 Nevertheless I withdrew my hand, and acted for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out. 23 I lifted up my hand to them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries; 24 Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers' idols. 25 Therefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments by which they should not live; 26 And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that opens the womb, that I might make them desolate, so that they might know that I am the LORD. 27 Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me. 28 For when I had brought them into the land, for which I lifted up my hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provoking of their offering: there also they made their sweet savor, and poured out there their drink offerings. 29 Then I said to them, What is the high place to which you go? And its name is called Bamah to this day. 30 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD; Are you polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit you harlotry after their abominations? 31 For when you offer your gifts, when you make your sons to pass through the fire, you pollute yourselves with all your idols, even to this day: and shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, says the Lord GOD, I will not be inquired of by you. 32 And what comes into your mind shall not happen, that you say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone. 33 As I live, says the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you: 34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out. 35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face. 36 As I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, says the Lord GOD. 37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant: 38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and those who transgress against me: I will bring them out of the country where they stay, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and you shall know that I am the LORD. 39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus says the Lord GOD; Go, serve every one his idols, and hereafter also, if you will not listen to me: but pollute my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols. 40 For on my holy mountain, in the mountain height of Israel, says the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your offerings, with all your holy things. 41 I will accept you with your sweet aroma, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen. 42 And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for which I lifted up my hand to give it to your fathers. 43 And there you shall remember your ways, and all your doings, in which you have been defiled; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that you have committed. 44 And you shall know that I am the LORD, when I have worked with you for my name's sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel, says the Lord GOD. 45 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 46 Son of man, set your face toward the south, and speak toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field; 47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus says the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree in you, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned in it. 48 And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched. 49 Then I said, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Does he not speak in parables?
  • Ezek 22:1-9 : 1 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 2 Now, you son of man, will you judge, will you judge the bloody city? Yes, you shall show her all her abominations. 3 Then say, Thus says the Lord GOD, The city sheds blood in its midst, that her time may come, and makes idols against herself to defile herself. 4 You have become guilty by the blood that you have shed, and have defiled yourself with your idols which you have made; and you have caused your days to draw near, and have come even to your years: therefore I have made you a reproach to the heathen, and a mocking to all countries. 5 Those who are near, and those who are far from you, shall mock you, who are infamous and much vexed. 6 Behold, the princes of Israel, every one, were in you using their power to shed blood. 7 In you they have treated father and mother with contempt: in your midst they have dealt oppressively with the stranger: in you they have wronged the fatherless and the widow. 8 You have despised My holy things, and have profaned My sabbaths. 9 In you are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in you they eat on the mountains: in the midst of you they commit lewdness. 10 In you they have uncovered their fathers' nakedness: in you they have humbled her who was set apart for impurity. 11 One has committed abomination with his neighbor's wife; another has lewdly defiled his daughter-in-law; and another in you has humbled his sister, his father's daughter. 12 In you they have taken bribes to shed blood; you have taken usury and increase, and you have greedily gained from your neighbors by extortion, and have forgotten Me, says the Lord GOD. 13 Behold, therefore I have struck My hand at your dishonest gain which you have made, and at the blood which has been in your midst. 14 Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days when I shall deal with you? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it. 15 And I will scatter you among the heathen, and disperse you in the countries, and will purge your filthiness out of you. 16 And you shall take your inheritance in yourself in the sight of the heathen, and you shall know that I am the LORD. 17 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 18 Son of man, the house of Israel is to Me like dross: all of them are brass, and tin, and iron, and lead, in the midst of the furnace; they are even the dross of silver. 19 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD; Because you are all become dross, behold, therefore I will gather you into the midst of Jerusalem. 20 As they gather silver, and brass, and iron, and lead, and tin, into the midst of the furnace, to blow the fire upon it, to melt it; so will I gather you in My anger and in My fury, and I will leave you there, and melt you. 21 Yes, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of My wrath, and you shall be melted in its midst. 22 As silver is melted in the midst of the furnace, so shall you be melted in its midst; and you shall know that I the LORD have poured out My fury upon you. 23 And the word of the LORD came to me, saying,

  • Mic 1:9 : 9 For her wound is incurable; for it has come to Judah; it has reached the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.
  • Mic 7:9 : 9 I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he pleads my cause and executes judgment for me; he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.
  • Zeph 3:1-5 : 1 Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city! 2 She did not obey the voice; she did not receive correction; she did not trust in the LORD; she did not draw near to her God. 3 Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they do not gnaw the bones until the morning. 4 Her prophets are light and treacherous people: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law. 5 The just LORD is in the midst of her; he will not do wrong: every morning he brings his judgment to light, he fails not; but the unjust know no shame.
  • Mal 4:1-2 : 1 For behold, the day comes that shall burn like an oven, and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But to you who fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings, and you shall go forth and grow up like stall-fed calves.
  • Josh 9:10-11 : 10 And all that He did to the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, who was at Ashtaroth. 11 Therefore our elders and all the inhabitants of our country spoke to us, saying, Take provisions with you for the journey, and go to meet them, and say to them, We are your servants: therefore now make a treaty with us.
  • 2 Chr 36:14-17 : 14 Moreover, all the leaders of the priests and the people transgressed greatly after all the abominations of the nations, and polluted the house of the LORD which he had sanctified in Jerusalem. 15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent warnings to them by his messengers, rising up early and sending them, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. 16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, until there was no remedy. 17 Therefore, he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion on young man or young woman, old man, or aged; he gave them all into his hand.
  • Ezra 9:6-7 : 6 And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to You, my God, for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass has grown up to the heavens. 7 Since the days of our fathers we have been in a great trespass to this day; and because of our iniquities, we, our kings, and our priests, have been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, to spoil, and to confusion of face, as it is this day.
  • Ezra 9:13 : 13 And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for our great trespass, seeing that You our God have punished us less than our iniquities deserve and have given us such deliverance as this;
  • Neh 9:26-36 : 26 Nevertheless, they were disobedient and rebelled against You, cast Your law behind their backs, and killed Your prophets who testified against them, to turn them back to You, and they performed great provocations. 27 Therefore You delivered them into the hand of their enemies, who oppressed them. And in the time of their trouble, when they cried to You, You heard from heaven; and according to Your manifold mercies, You gave them deliverers who saved them from the hand of their enemies. 28 But after they had rest, they did evil again before You; therefore You abandoned them in the hand of their enemies, so that they had dominion over them. Yet when they returned and cried out to You, You heard from heaven, and many times delivered them according to Your mercies. 29 You testified against them, that You might bring them back to Your law. Yet they acted proudly and did not heed Your commandments but sinned against Your judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them. And they shrugged their shoulders, stiffened their necks, and would not hear. 30 Yet for many years You had patience with them and testified against them by Your Spirit in Your prophets. Yet they would not give ear; therefore, You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands. 31 Nevertheless, in Your great mercies, You did not utterly consume them nor forsake them; for You are a gracious and merciful God. 32 Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who keeps covenant and mercy, do not let all the hardship seem little before You that has come upon us, our kings, our princes, our priests, our prophets, our forefathers, and all Your people, from the days of the kings of Assyria until this day. 33 However, You are just in all that has come upon us; for You have done right, but we have acted wickedly. 34 Neither have our kings, our princes, our priests, nor our forefathers kept Your law, nor heeded Your commandments and Your testimonies, which You testified against them. 35 For they have not served You in their kingdom, or in the vast and fertile land that You gave them, nor did they turn from their wicked works. 36 Here we are, servants today! And the land that You gave to our forefathers to eat its fruit and its bounty, here we are, servants in it.

  • Job 34:29 : 29 When He gives quietness, who then can make trouble? And when He hides His face, who then can behold Him? Whether it be done against a nation or against a man only.
  • Isa 1:4-5 : 4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children who are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel to anger, they have gone away backward. 5 Why should you be stricken any more? you will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.
  • Isa 1:21-24 : 21 How the faithful city has become a harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers. 22 Your silver has become dross, your wine mixed with water: 23 Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: everyone loves gifts, and follows after rewards: they do not judge the fatherless, nor does the cause of the widow come to them. 24 Therefore says the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease myself of my adversaries, and avenge myself of my enemies:
  • Isa 5:2 : 2 And he fenced it, and removed its stones, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress in it: and he expected it to bring forth grapes, but it brought forth wild grapes.
  • Isa 30:13-14 : 13 Therefore this iniquity shall be to you like a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking comes suddenly, in an instant. 14 And he shall break it as the breaking of the potter's vessel that is broken in pieces; he shall not spare: so that there shall not be found among its fragments a shard to take fire from the hearth, or to take water from the pit.
  • Isa 59:1-4 : 1 Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor his ear dull, that it cannot hear: 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. 3 For your hands are stained with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue has muttered perverseness. 4 No one calls for justice, nor does anyone plead for truth: they trust in vanity and speak lies; they conceive mischief and bring forth iniquity.
  • Isa 59:12-15 : 12 For our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them; 13 In transgressing and lying against the Lord, and departing from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. 14 And judgment is turned backward, and justice stands far off: for truth has fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. 15 Yes, truth fails; and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey: and the Lord saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
  • Jer 2:19 : 19 Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your backslidings shall reprove you: know therefore and see that it is an evil thing and bitter, that you have forsaken the LORD your God, and that my fear is not in you, says the Lord GOD of hosts.
  • Jer 2:28-30 : 28 But where are your gods that you have made? let them arise, if they can save you in the time of your trouble: for according to the number of your cities are your gods, O Judah. 29 Why will you plead with me? you all have transgressed against me, says the LORD. 30 In vain have I struck your children; they received no correction: your own sword has devoured your prophets, like a destroying lion.
  • Jer 5:6-9 : 6 Therefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the evenings shall spoil them, a leopard shall watch over their cities: everyone that goes out from there shall be torn in pieces: because their transgressions are many, and their backslidings have increased. 7 How shall I pardon you for this? Your children have forsaken me, and sworn by them that are no gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery, and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots' houses. 8 They were like well-fed horses in the morning: everyone neighed after his neighbor's wife. 9 Shall I not visit for these things? says the LORD: and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
  • Jer 5:25-31 : 25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good things from you. 26 For among my people are found wicked men: they lay in wait, as he who sets snares; they set a trap, they catch men. 27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they have become great, and grown rich. 28 They have grown fat, they shine: yes, they surpass the deeds of the wicked: they do not judge the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy they do not judge. 29 Shall I not visit for these things? says the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this? 30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; 31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will you do in the end thereof?
  • Jer 6:6-7 : 6 For thus has the LORD of hosts said, Cut down trees, and build a mound against Jerusalem. This is the city to be visited; she is full of oppression in her midst. 7 As a fountain casts out her waters, so she casts out her wickedness; violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually are grief and wounds.

  • Jer 7:8-9 : 8 Behold, you trust in deceptive words that cannot profit. 9 Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know; 10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? 11 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, says the LORD.
  • Jer 9:1-9 : 1 Oh that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people! 2 Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place for travelers; that I might leave my people and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. 3 And they bend their tongues like a bow for lies; but they are not valiant for the truth on the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know me, says the LORD. 4 Take heed every one of his neighbor, and do not trust in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with slanders. 5 And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. 6 Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says the LORD. 7 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and test them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people? 8 Their tongue is like an arrow shot out; it speaks deceit: one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart he lies in wait. 9 Shall I not visit them for these things? says the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?
