- Ezra 9:1-2 : 1 Now when these things were done, the princes came to me, saying, The people of Israel, the priests, and the Levites, have not separated themselves from the peoples of the lands, doing according to their abominations, even those of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Jebusites, the Ammonites, the Moabites, the Egyptians, and the Amorites. 2 For they have taken some of their daughters for themselves and for their sons, so that the holy seed has mingled with the peoples of those lands. Indeed, the hand of the princes and rulers has been chief in this trespass.
- Ezra 9:12 : 12 Now therefore do not give your daughters to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons, nor seek their peace or their wealth forever, that you may be strong and eat the good of the land, and leave it as an inheritance to your children forever.

- Neh 13:23-29 : 23 In those days I also saw Jews who had married women of Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab; 24 and their children spoke half in the language of Ashdod, and could not speak the language of Judah, but spoke according to the language of each people. 25 So I contended with them and cursed them, struck some of them and pulled out their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, You shall not give your daughters as wives to their sons, nor take their daughters for your sons or yourselves. 26 Did not King Solomon of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel; nevertheless, pagan women caused even him to sin. 27 Shall we then listen to you to do all this great evil, transgressing against our God by marrying pagan women? 28 And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was a son-in-law of Sanballat the Horonite; therefore, I drove him from me. 29 Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood and the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites.
