Wail, you ships of Tarshish; for it is destroyed, so there is no house, no entrance: from the land of Chittim it is revealed to them. 2 Be silent, you inhabitants of the island; you whom the merchants of Zidon, that cross over the sea, have filled. 3 And by great waters the seed of Sihor, the harvest of the river, is her revenue; and she is a marketplace of nations. 4 Be ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea has spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I do not travail, nor bring forth children, neither do I rear young men, nor raise virgins. 5 As at the report concerning Egypt, so they shall be greatly pained at the report of Tyre. 6 Cross over to Tarshish; wail, you inhabitants of the island. 7 Is this your joyous city, whose antiquity is from ancient days? her own feet shall carry her far away to sojourn. 8 Who has taken this counsel against Tyre, the crowning city, whose merchants are princes, whose traders are the honorable of the earth? 9 The LORD of hosts has purposed it, to mar the pride of all glory, and to bring into contempt all the honorable of the earth. 10 Flow through your land like a river, O daughter of Tarshish: there is no more restraint. 11 He has stretched out his hand over the sea, he shook the kingdoms: the LORD has given a commandment against the merchant city, to destroy its strongholds. 12 And he said, You shall rejoice no more, O oppressed virgin, daughter of Zidon: arise, cross over to Chittim; there also you shall have no rest. 13 Behold the land of the Chaldeans; this people was not till the Assyrian founded it for those who dwell in the wilderness: they set up its towers, they raised up its palaces; and he brought it to ruin. 14 Wail, you ships of Tarshish: for your strength is laid waste. 15 And it shall come to pass in that day, that Tyre shall be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king: after the end of seventy years shall Tyre sing as a harlot. 16 Take a harp, go about the city, you harlot that has been forgotten; make sweet melody, sing many songs, that you may be remembered. 17 And it shall come to pass after the end of seventy years, that the LORD will visit Tyre, and she shall return to her wages, and shall commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world upon the face of the earth. 18 And her goods and her trade shall be holiness to the LORD: it shall not be treasured nor laid up; for her merchandise shall be for them that dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for durable clothing.

Jer 50:1-9 : 1 The word that the LORD spoke against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet. 2 Declare among the nations and publish, and set up a banner; publish, and do not hide it: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces. 3 For out of the north a nation comes against her, which shall make her land desolate, and no one shall dwell therein: they shall move away, they shall depart, both man and beast. 4 In those days and at that time, says the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go and seek the LORD their God. 5 They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces toward it, saying, Come and let us join ourselves to the LORD in an everlasting covenant that shall not be forgotten. 6 My people have been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their resting place. 7 All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We are not guilty, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers. 8 Move out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be like he-goats before the flocks. 9 For, behold, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in battle array against her; from there she shall be taken: their arrows shall be like those of a mighty expert warrior; none shall return empty. 10 And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, says the LORD. 11 Because you were glad, because you rejoiced, O you destroyers of my heritage, because you have grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow like bulls; 12 Your mother shall be greatly ashamed; she that bore you shall be confounded: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert. 13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be utterly desolate: everyone who passes by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues. 14 Put yourselves in battle array against Babylon all around: all you that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she has sinned against the LORD. 15 Shout against her all around: she has surrendered: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she has done, do unto her. 16 Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handles the sickle in the harvest time: for fear of the oppressing sword everyone shall turn to his own people, and they shall flee to their own land. 17 Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven them away: first the king of Assyria has devoured him; and last this Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has broken his bones. 18 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria. 19 And I will bring Israel again to his dwelling place, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied on Mount Ephraim and Gilead. 20 In those days and at that time, says the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon those whom I reserve. 21 Go up against the land of Merathaim, against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, says the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded you. 22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction. 23 How the hammer of the whole earth is cut apart and broken! how Babylon has become a desolation among the nations! 24 I have set a trap for you, and you are also caught, O Babylon, and you were not aware: you are found, and also caught, because you have fought against the LORD. 25 The LORD has opened his armory, and has brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans. 26 Come against her from the furthest border, open her storehouses: pile her up as heaps, and utterly destroy her: let nothing of her be left. 27 Slay all her bulls; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation. 28 The voice of those who flee and escape from the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple. 29 Call together the archers against Babylon: all you that bend the bow, camp against it all around; let none of them escape: repay her according to her work; according to all that she has done, do unto her: for she has been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel. 30 Therefore her young men shall fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, says the LORD. 31 Behold, I am against you, O most proud, says the Lord GOD of hosts: for your day has come, the time that I will visit you. 32 And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall help him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all around him. 33 Thus says the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all who took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go. 34 Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall thoroughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon. 35 A sword is upon the Chaldeans, says the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men. 36 A sword is upon the liars; and they shall turn foolish: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed. 37 A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mixed people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become like women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed. 38 A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of carved images, and they are mad upon their idols. 39 Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited forever; neither shall it be lived in from generation to generation. 40 As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, says the LORD; so shall no man dwell there, neither shall any son of man live there. 41 Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the ends of the earth. 42 They shall hold the bow and the spear: they are cruel, and will show no mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one set in order, like a man to the battle, against you, O daughter of Babylon. 43 The king of Babylon has heard the report of them, and his hands grew feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in labor. 44 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan against the dwelling of the strong: but I will suddenly make them run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd who will stand before me? 45 Therefore hear the counsel of the LORD, that he has taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he has purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall drag them out: surely he shall make their dwelling desolate with them. 46 At the noise of the capture of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.
Ezek 27:1-9 : 1 The word of the LORD came again to me, saying, 2 Now, you son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyre; 3 And say to Tyre, O you who are situated at the entry of the sea, a merchant of the peoples for many islands, Thus says the Lord GOD; O Tyre, you have said, I am of perfect beauty. 4 Your borders are in the midst of the seas, your builders have perfected your beauty. 5 They have made all your ship boards of fir trees from Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for you. 6 From the oaks of Bashan they have made your oars; the company of the Ashurites have made your benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim. 7 Fine linen with embroidered work from Egypt was what you spread forth to be your sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was what covered you. 8 The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were your mariners: your wise men, O Tyre, who were in you, were your pilots. 9 The elders of Gebal and its wise men were in you, your caulkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in you to occupy your merchandise. 10 Those of Persia, Lud, and Phut were in your army, your men of war: they hung the shield and helmet in you; they set forth your beauty. 11 The men of Arvad with your army were on your walls all around, and the Gammadims were in your towers: they hung their shields upon your walls all around; they made your beauty perfect. 12 Tarshish was your merchant because of the multitude of all kinds of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in your markets. 13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were your merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in your market. 14 Those of the house of Togarmah traded in your markets with horses and horsemen and mules. 15 The men of Dedan were your merchants; many islands were the merchandise of your hand: they brought you in exchange horns of ivory and ebony. 16 Syria was your merchant by reason of the multitude of your handiworks: they occupied in your markets with emeralds, purple, embroidered work, fine linen, coral, and agate. 17 Judah and the land of Israel, they were your merchants: they traded in your market with wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm. 18 Damascus was your merchant for the multitude of your handiworks, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool. 19 Dan also and Javan going to and fro occupied in your markets: bright iron, cassia, and calamus were in your market. 20 Dedan was your merchant in precious clothes for chariots. 21 Arabia and all the princes of Kedar, they occupied with you in lambs, rams, and goats: in these they were your merchants. 22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were your merchants: they occupied in your fairs with the finest of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold. 23 Haran, Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were your merchants. 24 These were your merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and embroidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among your merchandise. 25 The ships of Tarshish sang of you in your market: and you were replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas. 26 Your rowers have brought you into great waters: the east wind has broken you in the midst of the seas. 27 Your riches, and your markets, your merchandise, your mariners, and your pilots, your caulkers, and the occupiers of your merchandise, and all your men of war, who are in you, and in all your company which is in the midst of you, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of your ruin. 28 The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of your pilots.
Ezek 28:2 : 2 Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord GOD; Because your heart is lifted up, and you have said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet you are a man and not God, though you set your heart as the heart of God:
Dan 2:47-48 : 47 The king answered and said to Daniel, Truly, your God is the God of gods, and the Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets, seeing you could reveal this secret. 48 Then the king promoted Daniel, gave him many great gifts, and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon, and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon.
Dan 4:30 : 30 The king spoke, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal residence, by the might of my power and for the honor of my majesty?
Acts 8:27 : 27 And he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, had come to Jerusalem to worship,
Rev 17:5 : 5 And on her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
Rev 18:2 : 2 And he cried out mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and has become the dwelling of demons, and the prison of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
