I den første uken i det førtifjerde jubelåret, i det andre året [2109] — det er året da Abraham døde — kom Isak og Ismael fra Eden til deres far Abraham for å feire ukenes høytid (dette er høytiden for førstegrøden av innhøstingen). Abraham var glad for at hans to sønner hadde kommet.

In the first week in the forty-fourth jubilee, during the second year [2109] — it is the year in which Abraham died — Isaac and Ishmael came from the well of the oath to their father Abraham to celebrate the festival of weeks (this is the festival of the firstfruits of the harvest). Abraham was happy that his two sons had come.

For Isaks eiendommer i Beersheba var mange. Isak pleide å dra og inspisere sine eiendeler og så returnere til sin far.

For Isaac’s possessions in Beersheba were numerous. Isaac used to go and inspect his possessions and then return to his father.

På den tiden kom Ismael for å se sin far, og alle samlet seg sammen. Isak slaktet et offer som en gave; han ofret det på farens alter som han hadde gjort i Hebron.

At that time Ishmael came to see his father, and all of them came together. Isaac slaughtered a sacrifice for the off’ering; he offered (it) on his father’s altar which he had made in Hebron.

Han ofret et fredsoffer og forberedte en gledelig fest foran sin bror Ismael. Rebekka laget ferskt brød av ny hvete. Hun ga det til sin sønn Jakob for å bringe det til hans far Abraham, noe av førstegrøden fra landet, slik at han kunne spise det og velsigne Skaperen av alt før han døde.

He sacrificed a peace offering and prepared a joyful feast in front of his brother Ishmael. Rebecca made fresh bread out of new wheat. She gave it to her son Jacob to bring to his father Abraham some of the firstfruits of the land so that he would eat (it) and bless the Creator of everything before he died.

Isak sendte også gjennom Jakob sitt beste fredsoffer [og vin til sin far] Abraham for at han skulle spise og drikke.

Isaac, too, sent through Jacob [his] excellent peace offering [and wine to his father] Abraham for him to eat and drinic.

Han spiste og drakk. Så velsignet han den høyeste Gud som skapte himmel og jord, som laget alt det rike av jorden, og ga det til menneskene for at de skulle spise, drikke og velsigne sin Skaper.

He ate and drank. Then he blessed the most high God who created the heavens and the earth, who made all the fat things of the earth, and gave them to mankind to eat, drink, and bless their Creator.

'Nå gir jeg ydmyk takk til deg, min Gud, fordi du har vist meg denne dagen. Jeg er nå 175 år gammel, gammel og med min tid fullbyrdet. Alle mine dager har vært fredfulle for meg.

‘Now I offer humble thanks to you, my God, because you have shown me this day. I am now 175 years of age, old and with (my) time completed. All of my days have proved to be peace for me.

Fiendens sverd har ikke overvunnet meg i noe av det du har gitt meg og mine sønner i løpet av hele mitt liv til denne dag.

The enemy’s sword has not subdued me in anything at all which you have given me and my sons during all my lifetime until today.

Må din godhet og fred hvile på din tjener og på etterkommerne av hans sønner slik at de, av alle jordens nasjoner, kan bli ditt utvalgte folk og arv fra nå av og gjennom hele jordens historie i alle tidsaldre.

May your kindness and peace rest on your servant and on the descendants of his sons so that they, of all the nations of the earth, may become your chosen people and heritage from now until all the time of the earth’s history throughout all ages’.

Han kalte på Jakob og sa til ham: 'Min sønn Jakob, må Gud, som er over alle, velsigne og styrke deg til å gjøre foran ham hva som er rett og hva han ønsker. Må han velge deg og dine etterkommere til å være hans folk for hans arv etter hans vilje gjennom all tid. Nå, min sønn Jakob, kom nær og kyss meg'.

He summoned Jacob and said to him: ‘My son Jacob, may the God of all bless and strengthen you to do before him what is right and what he wants. May he choose you and your descendants to be his people for his heritage in accord with his will throughout all time. Now you, my son Jacob, come close and kiss me’.

Så kom han nær og kysset ham. Da sa han: 'Må min sønn Jakob og alle hans sønner bli velsignet av den høyeste Herre gjennom alle tidsaldre. Må Herren gi deg rettferdige etterkommere, og må han helliggjøre noen av dine sønner innen hele jorden. Må nasjonene tjene deg, og må alle nasjoner bøye seg for dine etterkommere.

So he came close and kissed him. Then he said: ‘May my son Jacob and all his sons be blessed to the most high Lord throughout all ages. May the Lord give you righteous descendants, and may he sanctify some of your sons within the entire earth. May the nations serve you, and may all the nations bow before your descendants.

Vær sterk foran folk og fortsett å utøve makt blant alle Sets etterkommere. Da vil dine veier og veiene til dine sønner bli passende slik at de kan være et hellig folk.

Be strong before people and continue to exercise power among all of Seth’s descendants. Then your ways and the ways of your sons will be proper so that they may be a holy people.

Må den høyeste Gud gi deg alle de velsignelsene som han velsignet meg med og som han velsignet Noah og Adam med. Må de hvile på det hellige hodet til dine etterkommere gjennom hver eneste generasjon og for alltid.

May the most high God give you all the blessings with which he blessed me and with which he blessed Noah and Adam. May they come to rest on the sacred head of your descendants throughout each and every generation and forever.

Må han rense deg fra all uren forurensning slik at du kan bli tilgitt for all skylden av dine synder i uvitenhet. Må han styrke og velsigne deg; må du eie hele jorden.

May he purify you from all filthy pollution so that you may be pardoned for all the guilt of your sins of ignorance. May he strengthen and bless you; may you possess the entire earth.

Må han fornye sin pakt med deg slik at du kan være for ham folket av hans arv gjennom alle tidsaldre. Må han sant og rettferdig være Gud for deg og dine etterkommere gjennom all tid på jorden.

May he renew his covenant with you so that you may be for him the people of his heritage throughout all ages. May he truly and rightly be God for you and your descendants throughout all the time of the earth.

Nå du, min sønn Jakob, husk hva jeg sier og følg din far Abrahams befalinger. Skil deg fra nasjonene, og spis ikke med dem. Ikke gjør som dem, og bli ikke deres ledsager, for deres handlinger er noe urent, og alle deres veier er besmittet og noe motbydelig og avskyelig.

Now you, my son Jacob, remember what I say and keep the commandments of your father Abraham.Separate from the nations,and do not eat with them.Do not act as they do,and do not become their companion,for their actions are something that is impure,and all their ways are defiled and something abominable and detestable.

De ofrer sine ofre til de døde, og de tilber demoner. De spiser i gravene, og alt de gjør er tomt og verdiløst.

They offer their sacrifices to the dead,and they worship demons.They eat in tombs,and everything they do is empty and worthless.

De har ikke sinn til å tenke, og deres øyne ser ikke hva de gjør og hvordan de feiler når de sier til tre: 'Du er min gud'; eller til en stein: 'Du er min Herre; du er min frelser'. (De har) intet sinn.

They have no mind to think,and their eyes do not see what they doand how they err in saying to (a piece of) wood:«You are my god»;or to a stone:«You are my Lord;you are my deliverer».(They have) no mind.

Men hva deg angår, min sønn Jakob, må den høyeste Gud hjelpe deg og himmelens Gud velsigne deg. Må han fjerne deg fra deres urenshet og fra all deres villfarelse.

As for you, my son Jacob, may the most high God help you and the God of heaven bless you. May he remove you from their impurity and from all their error.

Vær forsiktig, min sønn Jakob, så du ikke gifter deg med en kvinne fra alle etterkommerne av Kanaans døtre, for alle hans etterkommere er (ment) for å bli utryddet fra jorden.

Be careful, my son Jacob, not to marry a woman from all the descendants of Canaan’s daughters, because all of his descendants are (meant) for being uprooted from the earth.

For gjennom Hams synd feilet Kanaan. Alle hans etterkommere og alle hans (folk) som er igjen vil bli ødelagt fra jorden; på dommens dag vil det ikke være noen (etterkommere) fra ham som vil bli frelst.

For through Ham’s sin Canaan erred. All of his descendants and all of his (people) who remain will be destroyed from the earth; on the day of judgment there will be no one (descended) from him who will be saved.

Det er intet håp i de levendes land for alle som tilber avguder og for de avskyelige. For de vil stige ned til dødsriket og vil gå til dommens sted. Det vil ikke være noe minne om dem på jorden. Som Sodomas folk ble tatt bort fra jorden, slik vil alle som tilber avguder bli tatt.

There is no hope in the land of the hving for all who worship idols and for those who are odious. For they will descend to sheol and will go to the place of judgment. There will be no memory of them on the earth. As the people of Sodom were taken from the earth, so all who worship idols will be taken.

Vær ikke redd, min sønn Jakob, og la deg ikke forskrekke, Abrahams sønn. Må den høyeste Gud beskytte deg fra fordervelse; og fra hver villfarende vei må han redde deg.

Do not be afraid, my son Jacob, and do not be upset, son of Abraham. May the most high God keep you from corruption; and from every erroneous way may he rescue you.

Dette huset har jeg bygget for meg selv for å sette mitt navn på det på jorden. Det er gitt til deg og dine etterkommere for evig. Det vil bli kalt Abrahams hus. Det er gitt til deg og dine etterkommere for evig fordi du vil bygge mitt hus og etablere mitt navn foran Gud til evigheten. Dine etterkommere og ditt navn vil forbli gjennom hele jordens historie'.

This house I have built for myself to put my name on it upon the earth. It has been given to you and to your descendants forever. It will be called Abraham’s house. It has been given to you and your descendants forever because you will build my house and will estabhsh my name before God until eternity. Your descendants and your name will remain throughout all the history of the earth’.

Så avsluttet han med å befale og velsigne ham.

Then he finished commanding and blessing him.

De to la seg ned sammen i en seng. Jakob sov i armene til sin bestefar Abraham. Han kysset ham sju ganger, og hans følelser og sinn var lykkelige for ham.

The two of them lay down together on one bed. Jacob slept in the bosom of his grandfather Abraham. He kissed him seven times, and his feelings and mind were happy about him.

Han velsignet ham helhjertet og sa: 'Den høyeste Gud er Gud over alt og Skaperen av alt, som førte meg fra Ur i Kaldea for å gi meg dette landet slik at jeg skulle eie det for alltid og oppreise hellige etterkommere slik at de kan bli velsignet for evig'.

He blessed him wholeheartedly and said: ‘The most high God is the God of all and Creator of everything who brought me from Ur of the Chaldeans to give me this land in order that I should possess it forever and raise up holy descendants so that they may be blessed forever’.

Deretter velsignet han Jakob: 'Min sønn, som jeg er overordentlig fornøyd med i hele mitt sinn og følelser — må din nåde og miskunn fortsette på ham og hans etterkommere for all tid.

Then he blessed Jacob: ‘My son, with whom I am exceedingly happy with all my mind and feelings — may your grace and mercy continue on him and his descendants for all time.

Ikke forlat eller forsøm ham fra nå av og til tidens slutt. Må dine øyne være åpne over ham og hans etterkommere slik at de kan våke over dem og slik at du kan velsigne og hellige dem som ditt folks arv.

Do not leave or neglect him from now until the time of eternity. May your eyes be open on him and his descendants so that they may watch over them and so that you may bless and sanctify them as the people of your heritage.

Velsign ham med alle dine velsignelser fra nå av og til all evighet. Med hele din vilje fornye din pakt og din nåde med ham og hans etterkommere gjennom hele jordens historie'.

Bless him with all your blessings from now until all the time of eternity. With your entire will renew your covenant and your grace with him and with his descendants throughout all the history of the earth’.
