    29ባላምም ለአህያዋ አለ፦ ስለ አፍረሻኝ ነው፤ አሁን በእጄ ሰይፍ ቢኖር ነበር በዚህ ጊዜ እገድልሽ ነበር።

    30አህያዋም ለባላም አለች፦ ከአንተ ሆኜ ከሆንሁ ጀምሮ እስከዛሬ ድረስ የተቀመጥህባት አህያህ አልነበርሁምን? እንዲህ ለማድረግ ተለመድሁ ነበርን? እርሱም፦ አይ፣ አለ።

    31ከዚያም እግዚአብሔር የባላምን ዓይን ከፈተ፤ የእግዚአብሔር መልአክ በመንገድ ላይ እጁን በሰይፉ ተዘርግቶ ሲቆም አየው፤ እርሱም ራሱን ዝቅ አደረገ እና በፊቱ ተደፈቀ።

    32የእግዚአብሔር መልአክም አለው፦ እንዴት አህያህን እንደዚህ ሦስት ጊዜ መታህ? እነሆ፣ መንገድህ በፊቴ ጠማማ ስለሆነ ለመቆጣጠርህ ወጥቼ ነበር።

    33አህያዋ እኔን አይታ እነዚህን ሦስት ጊዜ ከእኔ ራቀች፤ እሷ ባልተራቀች ኖሮ አሁን አንተን ባገዴሁ ነበር ፣ እሷን ግን በሕይወት ባስቀርሁ ነበር።

    34ባላምም ለየእግዚአብሔር መልአክ አለ፦ ኀጢአት ሠርቻለሁ፤ ከእኔ በፊት በመንገድ ላይ እንዳቆምክ አላወቅሁም፤ አሁንም ይህ ቢያስደስትህ ካልሆነ እመለሳለሁ።

    35የእግዚአብሔር መልአክም ለባላም አለው፦ ከሰዎቹ ጋር ሂድ፤ ነገር ግን እኔ የማነግርህን ቃል ብቻ ትናገራለህ። ስለዚህ ባላም ከባላቅ አለቆች ጋር ሄደ።

    36ባላቅም ባላም መጣ ብሎ ሲሰማው ሊገናኘው ወጥቶ ሄደ ወደ አርኖን ድንበር ላይ ባለች የሞዓብ ከተማ፤ እርስዋም በእጅጉ የርቀት ዳር ላይ ነበረች።
