You even killed your brothers, the members of your father's family, who were better than you. 14 So now the Lord is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives, and all your possessions with a devastating plague. 15 You yourself will suffer painful illnesses of your intestines until your intestines come out day by day because of the disease. 16 The Lord stirred up the Philistines and the Arabians who lived near the Cushites against Jehoram. 17 They attacked Judah, invaded it, and carried away all the possessions found in the king's palace, along with his sons and wives. The only son left to him was Jehoahaz, his youngest son. 18 After all these events, the Lord afflicted Jehoram with an incurable disease in his intestines. 19 Over time, after two years, his intestines came out because of his illness, and he died in terrible suffering. His people did not hold a fire in his honor, as they had done for his ancestors. 20 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem. He passed away to no one's regret and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.
