  • Gen 6:1-7 : 1 When mankind began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them, 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of humanity were beautiful, and they took wives for themselves from whomever they chose. 3 Then the Lord said, "My Spirit will not contend with humanity forever, because they are flesh; their days will be 120 years." 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of humanity and had children by them. They were the mighty men of old, men of renown. 5 The Lord saw how great the wickedness of humanity had become on the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of their heart was only evil continually. 6 The Lord regretted that He had made humanity on the earth, and it deeply grieved Him. 7 So the Lord said, "I will wipe out humanity, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—humans, along with the animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky—for I regret that I have made them."
  • Gen 7:6-9 : 6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came upon the earth. 7 Noah, along with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives, entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. 8 From the clean animals, from the animals that are not clean, from the birds, and from everything that crawls on the ground, 9 two by two they came to Noah and entered the ark, male and female, as God had commanded Noah. 10 And after seven days, the waters of the flood came upon the earth. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the windows of the heavens were opened. 12 And the rain fell on the earth for forty days and forty nights. 13 On that very day, Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth, along with Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons, entered the ark. 14 They, and every wild animal according to its kind, all the livestock according to their kinds, every crawling thing that crawls on the ground according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind—all winged creatures—came. 15 They came to Noah and entered the ark, two by two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life. 16 Those entering, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him, and the Lord shut him in. 17 The flood continued on the earth for forty days. The waters rose and lifted the ark, and it was raised high above the earth. 18 The waters prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the waters. 19 The waters prevailed greatly on the earth, covering all the high mountains under the entire sky. 20 The waters rose to a height of fifteen cubits above the mountains, covering them completely. 21 Every living creature that moved on the earth perished—birds, livestock, wild animals, all creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out—human beings, animals, creeping things, and birds of the sky. They were destroyed from the earth, and only Noah and those with him in the ark remained.
