Also, send me cedar, cypress, and algum timber from Lebanon, for I know that your servants are skilled in cutting timber there. My servants will work alongside your servants.
Provide a large amount of timber for me, because the house I am building will be great and extraordinary.
I will give your servants, the woodcutters who cut the timber, twenty thousand cors of crushed wheat, twenty thousand cors of barley, twenty thousand gallons of wine, and twenty thousand gallons of oil.
Hiram, king of Tyre, replied in writing and sent it to Solomon: "Because of the LORD's love for His people, He has made you their king."
Hiram said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth! He has given King David a wise son, endowed with insight and understanding, who will build a temple for the LORD and a palace for himself."
Now I have sent you a skilled and insightful craftsman, Huram-Abi.
He is the son of a woman from the daughters of Dan, and his father is a man of Tyre. He is knowledgeable in working with gold, silver, bronze, iron, stone, and wood, as well as with purple, blue, fine linen, and crimson. He is skilled in engraving all kinds of designs and can work with your craftsmen and the craftsmen of my lord David, your father.
Now, let my lord send the wheat, barley, oil, and wine that he has promised to his servants.
We will cut timber from Lebanon, as much as you need. We will float it in rafts by sea to Joppa, and you can then take it up to Jerusalem.
Then Solomon counted all the foreigners who were in the land of Israel, as his father David had counted them, and they were found to be 153,600.
