There, Jehu met the relatives of Ahaziah, king of Judah, and asked, "Who are you?" They answered, "We are the relatives of Ahaziah, and we have come to greet the sons of the king and the queen mother."

6Jehoram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds he received at Ramoth while fighting against Hazael, king of Aram. Then Azariah (also called Ahaziah), son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to visit Jehoram, son of Ahab, in Jezreel because he was wounded.
7Ahaziah’s downfall came from God, for when he went to Jehoram, he joined him in meeting Jehu, son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.

11When Jehu went out to the servants of his master, they asked, 'Is everything alright? Why did this madman come to you?' He replied, 'You know the sort of man and his babble.'
12They said, 'That's not true! Tell us!' So he said, 'This is what he said to me: “This is what the LORD says: I anoint you king over Israel.”'
13They quickly took their garments, spread them under him on the bare steps, blew the trumpet, and proclaimed, 'Jehu is king!'
14So Jehu, son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi, conspired against Joram. Now Joram and all Israel had been defending Ramoth-Gilead against Hazael king of Aram.
15But King Joram had returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him when he fought against Hazael king of Aram. Jehu said, 'If this is your will, let no one escape from the city to report this in Jezreel.'
16Then Jehu rode to Jezreel, for Joram was resting there, and Ahaziah king of Judah had gone down to see him.
17When the watchman standing on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu's company approaching, he called out, 'I see a company!' Joram said, 'Send a rider to meet them and ask, “Do you come in peace?”'
18So a horseman went out to meet them and said, 'This is what the king says: Do you come in peace?' Jehu replied, 'What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me.' And the watchman reported, 'The messenger reached them but has not returned.'
19The king sent out a second horseman, who came to them and said, 'This is what the king says: Do you come in peace?' Jehu answered, 'What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me.'
20The watchman reported, 'He has reached them, but he has not returned. The driving is like that of Jehu son of Nimshi—he drives furiously!'
21Joram ordered, 'Hitch up my chariot.' When it was hitched up, Joram king of Israel and Ahaziah king of Judah went out, each in his own chariot, to meet Jehu. They found him on the plot of land that had belonged to Naboth the Jezreelite.
22When Joram saw Jehu, he asked, 'Do you come in peace, Jehu?' Jehu replied, 'How can there be peace as long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many?'
23Joram turned around and fled, calling out to Ahaziah, 'Treachery, Ahaziah!'
11So Jehu struck down all who remained of Ahab’s house in Jezreel—all his great men, close acquaintances, and priests—leaving not a single survivor.
12Then Jehu set out and went to Samaria. Along the way, he came to Beth-Eked of the Shepherds.
2When you arrive there, look for Jehu son of Jehoshaphat son of Nimshi. Go to him, make him rise from among his companions, and lead him into an inner room.
1Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria, and Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria, to the rulers of Jezreel, to the elders, and to the guardians of Ahab’s children, saying:
2When this letter reaches you, since your master’s sons are with you, and you have chariots, horses, a fortified city, and weapons,
4But they were extremely afraid and said, "Look, two kings could not stand against him, so how can we stand?"
5So the one in charge of the palace, the one in charge of the city, the elders, and the guardians sent a message to Jehu, saying, "We are your servants, and we will do everything you tell us. We will not make anyone king; do whatever seems best to you."
6Then Jehu wrote them a second letter, saying, "If you are on my side and will obey me, take the heads of your master’s sons and come to me at Jezreel by this time tomorrow." Now the king’s sons, seventy in all, were being raised by the prominent men of the city.
5When he arrived, he found the commanders of the army sitting together. He said, 'Commander, I have a message for you.' Jehu asked, 'For which one of us?' He replied, 'For you, commander.'
23Then Jehu and Jehonadab son of Rechab entered the temple of Baal. Jehu said to the worshipers of Baal, "Search and make sure that no servants of the LORD are here with you—only the worshipers of Baal."
24So they entered to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings. Meanwhile, Jehu had stationed eighty men outside and warned them, "If any man lets one of the men I am handing over to you escape, it will be his life for theirs."
25When Jehu finished offering the burnt offering, he said to the guards and officers, "Go in and kill them; let no one escape." The guards and officers struck them down with the sword, threw the bodies out, and went into the inner sanctuary of the temple of Baal.
27When Ahaziah king of Judah saw this, he fled along the road to Beth-haggan. Jehu pursued him, shouting, 'Shoot him too!' They struck him in his chariot on the way up to Gur near Ibleam, but he fled to Megiddo and died there.
14Then Jehu commanded, "Take them alive." So they captured them alive and slaughtered them at the pit of Beth-Eked—forty-two men. He left none of them alive.
15When Jehu left there, he met Jehonadab son of Rechab, who was coming to meet him. Jehu greeted him and said, "Is your heart as true to mine as mine is to yours?" Jehonadab replied, "It is." "If so," Jehu said, "give me your hand." So he gave his hand, and Jehu helped him into the chariot.
16Then Jehu said, "Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD." So he had him ride in his chariot.
17When Jehu arrived in Samaria, he struck down all who remained of Ahab’s household in Samaria until he had destroyed them, according to the word of the LORD spoken through Elijah.
1The inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, his youngest son, king in his place, because the raiders who had come with the Arabs into the camp had killed all the older sons. So Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, became king.
34As for the rest of the deeds of Jehu—everything he did and all his might—are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
35Jehu rested with his ancestors and was buried in Samaria. And his son Jehoahaz succeeded him as king.
29Then King Joram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah in his battle against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visit Joram son of Ahab because he was wounded.

2Jehu, the son of Hanani the seer, went out to meet King Jehoshaphat and said to him, 'Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Because of this, the LORD’s wrath is upon you.'
2Some years later, he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria. Ahab slaughtered an abundance of sheep and cattle for him and the people who were with him and persuaded him to go up to Ramoth Gilead.
3Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, 'Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?' Jehoshaphat replied, 'I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will join you in the battle.'
31As Jehu entered the gate, she called out, 'Is it peace, Zimri, murderer of your master?'
8Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, with this challenge: 'Come, let us face each other in battle.'
7Then he sent a message to Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, saying, "The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you go with me to fight against Moab?" And he replied, "I will go; I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses."
30The LORD said to Jehu, "Because you have done well in executing what is right in my eyes and have carried out all that was in My heart against the house of Ahab, your descendants will sit on the throne of Israel to the fourth generation."
25Then Jehu said to Bidkar, his officer, 'Take him and throw him on the plot of land that belonged to Naboth the Jezreelite. Remember how you and I were riding together behind Ahab his father when the LORD pronounced this judgment against him.'
12Their father asked them, 'Which way did he go?' His sons showed him the road the man of God from Judah had taken.
13But you followed the ways of the kings of Israel and led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into unfaithfulness, just as the house of Ahab led people into idolatry. You even killed your brothers, the members of your father's family, who were better than you.
25In the twelfth year of Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, began to reign.
