16 Then Jehu rode to Jezreel, for Joram was resting there, and Ahaziah king of Judah had gone down to see him.
17 When the watchman standing on the tower in Jezreel saw Jehu's company approaching, he called out, 'I see a company!' Joram said, 'Send a rider to meet them and ask, “Do you come in peace?”'
18 So a horseman went out to meet them and said, 'This is what the king says: Do you come in peace?' Jehu replied, 'What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me.' And the watchman reported, 'The messenger reached them but has not returned.'
19 The king sent out a second horseman, who came to them and said, 'This is what the king says: Do you come in peace?' Jehu answered, 'What do you have to do with peace? Fall in behind me.'
20 The watchman reported, 'He has reached them, but he has not returned. The driving is like that of Jehu son of Nimshi—he drives furiously!'

4 But they were extremely afraid and said, "Look, two kings could not stand against him, so how can we stand?"
5 So the one in charge of the palace, the one in charge of the city, the elders, and the guardians sent a message to Jehu, saying, "We are your servants, and we will do everything you tell us. We will not make anyone king; do whatever seems best to you."
6 Then Jehu wrote them a second letter, saying, "If you are on my side and will obey me, take the heads of your master’s sons and come to me at Jezreel by this time tomorrow." Now the king’s sons, seventy in all, were being raised by the prominent men of the city.

15 The LORD said to him, 'Go back the way you came, and go to the wilderness of Damascus. When you arrive, anoint Hazael as king over Aram.'
16 Anoint Jehu son of Nimshi as king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to be prophet in your place.
17 Anyone who escapes the sword of Hazael will be put to death by Jehu, and anyone who escapes the sword of Jehu will be put to death by Elisha.

14 Then Ahab asked, 'By whom will this be accomplished?' The prophet replied, 'This is what the LORD says: By the young men of the provincial leaders.' Ahab further asked, 'Who will start the battle?' The prophet answered, 'You will.'
