    2Some years later, he went down to visit Ahab in Samaria. Ahab slaughtered an abundance of sheep and cattle for him and the people who were with him and persuaded him to go up to Ramoth Gilead.

    3Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, 'Will you go with me to Ramoth Gilead?' Jehoshaphat replied, 'I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will join you in the battle.'

    4But Jehoshaphat also said to the king of Israel, 'Please, first seek the word of the LORD today.'

    5So the king of Israel gathered the prophets, four hundred men, and asked them, 'Shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or should I refrain?' They answered, 'Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king.'

    13Meanwhile, a prophet approached Ahab, king of Israel, and said, 'This is what the LORD says: Do you see this vast army? I will give it into your hand today, and you will know that I am the LORD.'

    14Then Ahab asked, 'By whom will this be accomplished?' The prophet replied, 'This is what the LORD says: By the young men of the provincial leaders.' Ahab further asked, 'Who will start the battle?' The prophet answered, 'You will.'

    15When Micaiah arrived before the king, the king said to him, 'Micaiah, should we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or should we refrain?' Micaiah answered, 'Go and succeed, for the LORD will give it into the king’s hand.'

    16But the king said to him, 'How many times must I make you swear to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?'

    18'Get up and go down to meet Ahab, king of Israel, who rules in Samaria. He is now in Naboth’s vineyard, where he has gone to take possession of it.

    19Speak to him and say, “Thus says the LORD: Have you murdered and also taken possession?” Then say to him, “Thus says the LORD: In the place where the dogs licked up Naboth’s blood, the dogs will also lick up your blood—yes, yours.”'

  • 9So he replied to Ben-Hadad's messengers, 'Tell my lord the king: I will do what you originally demanded of me, but this I cannot do.' The messengers left and reported back to Ben-Hadad.

  • 20So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel.

  • 18As for the king of Judah who sent you to inquire of the LORD, you shall say to him: ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: Regarding the words you have heard,
