  • 1 Cor 12:12-27 : 12 Just as the body is one but has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Indeed, the body is not one member but many. 15 If the foot should say, 'Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,' it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, 'Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,' it would not for that reason cease to be part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But now God has arranged the members, each one of them, in the body just as He desired. 19 If they were all one member, where would the body be? 20 But as it is, there are many members, yet one body. 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, 'I have no need of you,' nor can the head say to the feet, 'I have no need of you.' 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable. 23 And the parts of the body that we think are less honorable, we bestow greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, 24 whereas our presentable parts have no need of it. But God has composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all the members suffer with it. If one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

  • Eph 5:23-32 : 23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior. 24 As the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her, 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing of water through the word, 27 and to present her to Himself as a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of His body. 31 For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. 32 This mystery is great—but I am speaking about Christ and the church.
