35 The angel of the LORD said to Balaam, 'Go with the men, but speak only what I tell you.' So Balaam went with Balak's officials.
36 When Balak heard that Balaam was coming, he went out to meet him at the Moabite city on the Arnon border, at the edge of his territory.
37 Balak said to Balaam, 'Did I not send messengers to you to summon you? Why didn’t you come to me? Am I really unable to reward you?
38 Balaam said to Balak, 'Well, I have come to you now. But I cannot say just anything. I must speak only what God puts in my mouth.'

40 Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep and gave some to Balaam and the officials who were with him.
41 The next morning, Balak took Balaam and brought him up to Bamoth-baal, from where he could see the outskirts of the people.

13 'Even if Balak gave me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go against the command of the LORD, to do anything good or bad of my own will. What the LORD says, that I will speak.'
25 Then Balak said to Balaam, 'If you won’t curse them for me, then at least don’t bless them!'
26 But Balaam replied, 'Didn’t I tell you that I must do whatever the LORD says?'
27 Then Balak said to Balaam, 'Come, let me take you to another place. Perhaps it will please God to let you curse them for me from there.'
25 Then Balaam got up and returned to his home, and Balak also went on his way.
5 The LORD put a word in Balaam’s mouth and said, 'Go back to Balak and speak this to him.'
6 He returned to Balak, and there he was, standing beside his burnt offering along with all the officials of Moab.
7 Then Balaam uttered his oracle and said: 'From Aram Balak brought me, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains: "Come, curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel."'
9 Then Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, set out to fight against Israel. He sent for Balaam son of Beor to curse you.
10 But I would not listen to Balaam. Instead, he blessed you again and again, and I delivered you from his hand.
11 Balak said to Balaam, 'What have you done to me? I brought you to curse my enemies, but you have done nothing but bless them!'
12 He answered, 'Must I not speak what the LORD puts in my mouth?'
13 Then Balak said to him, 'Please come with me to another place where you can see them. You will see only a part of them, not all of them. From there, curse them for me.'
