7 Then Balaam uttered his oracle and said: 'From Aram Balak brought me, the king of Moab from the eastern mountains: "Come, curse Jacob for me; come, denounce Israel."'

16 The LORD met with Balaam and put a message in his mouth, saying, 'Return to Balak and speak these words.'
17 So Balaam returned to Balak, who was standing beside his burnt offering with the officials of Moab. Balak asked him, 'What did the LORD say?'
18 Then Balaam proclaimed his oracle, saying: 'Stand up, Balak, and listen; hear me, son of Zippor!'
19 'God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?'
20 'Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot change it.'
9 He crouched, he lay down like a lion, like a lioness—who dares to rouse him? Those who bless you will be blessed; those who curse you will be cursed.
10 Then Balak's anger burned against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. He said to Balaam, 'I summoned you to curse my enemies, but instead, you have blessed them three times!'
11 Now leave and go home! I said I would reward you handsomely, but the LORD has kept you from being rewarded.'
12 Balaam answered Balak, 'Did I not tell your messengers that you sent to me,'
13 'Even if Balak gave me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go against the command of the LORD, to do anything good or bad of my own will. What the LORD says, that I will speak.'
4 No Ammonite or Moabite may enter the assembly of the LORD, even to the tenth generation; none of their descendants may ever enter the assembly of the LORD.
5 This is because they did not meet you with bread and water on your way out of Egypt, and because they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor of Aram Naharaim to curse you.
