5 For her sins have piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her injustices.
6 Repay her as she herself has repaid others, and pay her back double according to her deeds; in the cup she has mixed, mix a double portion for her.
7 As much as she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, give her that much torment and grief, because in her heart she says, 'I sit as a queen, I am no widow, and I will never see grief.'
8 Because of this, her plagues will come in a single day: death, mourning, and famine. She will be consumed by fire, for the mighty Lord God is the one who judges her.
9 The kings of the earth who committed sexual immorality with her and lived in luxury will weep and mourn over her when they see the smoke of her burning.
10 Standing far off because of the fear of her torment, they will say, 'Woe, woe to the great city, Babylon, the mighty city! For in one hour your judgment has come.'
11 The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn for her, because no one buys their cargo anymore—
