Romans 4:17
As it is written: 'I have made you a father of many nations.' He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.

11Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand,
17Abraham fell facedown and laughed, saying to himself, "Can a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Can Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?"
18And Abraham said to God, "If only Ishmael might live under Your blessing!"
19Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. I will establish My covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him.
5But to the one who does not work but believes in the one who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as righteousness.
6Just as David also speaks of the blessedness of the person to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
23And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, 'Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,' and he was called a friend of God.
