22 But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
23 Speak to Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the remnant of the people, saying,
24 Thus says the LORD, You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel. Return every man to his house, for this thing is from Me. Therefore they listened to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.
17 So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and made Rehoboam the son of Solomon strong for three years, because three years they walked in the way of David and Solomon.
26 And Jeroboam said in his heart, Now the kingdom shall return to the house of David.
27 If this people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then the heart of this people shall turn again to their lord, even to Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.
28 Therefore the king took counsel and made two calves of gold, and said to them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem; behold your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
9 and he said to them, What counsel do you give that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which your father put upon us lighter?
5 Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and the princes of Judah, who were gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, Thus says the LORD, You have forsaken me, and therefore I also have left you in the hand of Shishak.

4 Then the king said to Amasa, Gather the men of Judah for me in three days, and be here yourself.

11 And whenever the king entered the house of the LORD, the guard came and fetched them and brought them back into the guard chamber.
8 and that whoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the leaders and elders, all his property would be forfeited, and he himself would be separated from the congregation of those who had been carried away.
16 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David; and Abijah his son reigned in his place.
17 And the king went forth, and all the people after him, and stayed in a place that was far off.
