7And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him, Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hand.
19So these young men of the princes of the provinces came out of the city, and the army which followed them.
16And when the Syrians saw that they were defeated before Israel, they sent messengers, and drew forth the Syrians that were beyond the river; and Shophach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them.
17And it was told David; and he gathered all Israel, and crossed over Jordan, and came upon them and set the battle in array against them. So when David had set the battle in array against the Syrians, they fought with him.
23For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, who had struck him, and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore I will sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
