And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him, Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hand.

13 And Asa and the people who were with him pursued them to Gerar, and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover, for they were destroyed before the LORD and before His army; and they carried away very much spoil.
2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said to him, Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD is with you, while you are with Him; and if you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.
10 Thus shall you speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not your God, in whom you trust, deceive you, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
11 Behold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered?
6 Then King Asa took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah and the timber thereof, with which Baasha was building; and he built with them Geba and Mizpah.
24 For the army of the Syrians came with a small company of men, and the LORD delivered a very great army into their hand, because they had forsaken the LORD God of their fathers. So they executed judgment against Joash.
5 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to wage war; and they besieged Ahaz but could not overcome him.
6 At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath for Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath; the Syrians came to Elath and have dwelt there to this day.
7 So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria, saying, I am your servant and your son; come up and save me from the hand of the king of Syria and from the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me.
9 And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon, for they joined him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.
4 And Benhadad listened to King Asa, and sent the commanders of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they struck down Ijon, Dan, Abelmaim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.
5 Then Shemaiah the prophet came to Rehoboam and the princes of Judah, who were gathered at Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said to them, Thus says the LORD, You have forsaken me, and therefore I also have left you in the hand of Shishak.
18 Beware lest Hezekiah persuade you, saying, The LORD will deliver us. Has any of the gods of the nations delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
15 Nor let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us; this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
10 Thus says Sennacherib king of Assyria, On what do you trust, that you remain under siege in Jerusalem?
18 Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they relied upon the LORD God of their fathers.
20 You say (but they are only vain words) I have counsel and strength for war. Now in whom do you trust, that you rebel against me?

9 The king of Assyria heeded him, for he went up against Damascus, captured it, and carried its people captive to Kir, and killed Rezin.
12 Elijah the prophet sent him a letter, saying, "This is what the LORD, the God of David your father, says: Because you have not followed the ways of Jehoshaphat your father or Asa king of Judah,
21 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, Thus says the LORD God of Israel, Because you have prayed to me against Sennacherib king of Assyria:
11 Therefore the heart of the king of Syria was greatly troubled by this thing; and he called his servants, and said to them, Will you not show me which of us is for the king of Israel?
30 Nor let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be handed over to the king of Assyria.
26 And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the LORD, so shall you say to him, Thus says the LORD God of Israel concerning the words which you have heard;
16 At that time, King Ahaz sent to the kings of Assyria to help him.
7 But a man of God came to him, saying, O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you; for the LORD is not with Israel, with all the children of Ephraim.
