And he said, Peaceably: I have come to sacrifice to the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the sacrifice.

    9Then Jesse made Shammah to pass by. And he said, Neither has the LORD chosen this.

    10Again, Jesse made seven of his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, The LORD has not chosen these.

    11And Samuel said to Jesse, Are these all your children? And he said, There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he keeps the sheep. And Samuel said to Jesse, Send and bring him: for we will not sit down till he comes here.

    12And he sent, and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, and with a beautiful countenance, and good to look upon. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

    13Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brothers: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to Ramah.

    12And when Samuel rose early to meet Saul in the morning, it was told Samuel, saying, Saul came to Carmel, and behold, he set up a place for himself, and has gone about, and passed on, and gone down to Gilgal.

    13And Samuel came to Saul: and Saul said to him, Blessed are you of the LORD: I have performed the commandment of the LORD.

    14And Samuel said, What then is this bleating of the sheep in my ears, and the lowing of the oxen which I hear?

    15And Saul said, They have brought them from the Amalekites: for the people spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice to the LORD your God; and the rest we have utterly destroyed.

    16Then Samuel said to Saul, Stay, and I will tell you what the LORD said to me this night. And he said to him, Speak on.

    13As soon as you come into the city, you shall find him immediately, before he goes up to the high place to eat: for the people will not eat until he comes, because he blesses the sacrifice; and afterward those who are invited eat. Now therefore go up; for about this time you shall find him.

    19Therefore Saul sent messengers to Jesse, and said, Send me David your son, who is with the sheep.

  • 18And as soon as David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts.

  • 5To the end that the children of Israel may bring their sacrifices, which they offer in the open field, that they may bring them to the LORD, to the door of the tabernacle of meeting, to the priest, and offer them for peace offerings to the LORD.

  • 29And he said, Let me go, please; for our family has a sacrifice in the city; and my brother has commanded me to be there: and now, if I have found favor in your eyes, let me go, I pray you, and see my brothers. Therefore he does not come to the king's table.

  • 6If your father at all misses me, then say, David earnestly asked leave of me that he might run to Bethlehem his city: for there is a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.
