And one of Joab's men stood by Amasa and said, Whoever favors Joab and whoever is for David, let him follow Joab.

12 Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the middle of the road, and when the man saw that all the people stopped, he moved Amasa from the road into the field and threw a cloth over him, because everyone who came by stopped.

13 And say to Amasa, Are you not of my bone and my flesh? God do so to me, and more also, if you are not captain of the host before me continually in the place of Joab.
14 Then Joab said, I cannot linger thus with you. And he took three spears in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was still alive in the midst of the oak.
15 And ten young men who carried Joab's armor surrounded and struck Absalom, and killed him.
2 So all the men of Israel left David and followed Sheba the son of Bichri, but the men of Judah stayed loyal to their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.
31 And the king said unto him, Do as he has said, and strike him down and bury him, that you may take away the innocent blood which Joab shed, from me and from the house of my father.
32 And the Lord will return his blood upon his own head, who struck down two men more righteous and better than he, and killed them with the sword, my father David not knowing of it: namely, Abner the son of Ner, captain of the army of Israel, and Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the army of Judah.
11 And Joab said to the man who told him, And, behold, you saw him, and why did you not strike him there to the ground? and I would have given you ten shekels of silver, and a belt.
12 And the man said to Joab, Though I should receive a thousand shekels of silver in my hand, yet would I not raise my hand against the king's son: for in our hearing the king charged you and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch the young man Absalom.
20 Joab answered, Far be it from me, far be it from me, to swallow up or destroy.
21 The matter is not so; but a man from the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has raised his hand against the king, against David. Deliver him only, and I will depart from the city. The woman said to Joab, Behold, his head shall be thrown to you over the wall.
25 Then David said to the messenger, Thus you shall say to Joab: Do not let this thing trouble you, for the sword devours one as well as another. Strengthen your attack against the city, and overthrow it. So encourage him.
4 Nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. So Joab went out and went throughout all Israel, and came back to Jerusalem.
15 And David called one of the young men and said, Go near, and strike him. And he smote him that he died.
21 And Abner said to him, Turn aside to your right hand or to your left, and take hold of one of the young men, and take his armor. But Asahel would not turn aside from following him.
22 And Abner said again to Asahel, Turn aside from following me: why should I strike you to the ground? How could I face Joab your brother?
5 Moreover, you know also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner, and to Amasa the son of Jether, whom he killed, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war on his belt that was about his loins, and in his shoes on his feet.
29 Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father's house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one who has an issue, or who is a leper, or who leans on a staff, or who falls by the sword, or who lacks bread.
30 So Joab and Abishai his brother killed Abner because he had killed their brother Asahel at Gibeon in the battle.
31 And David said to Joab and to all the people who were with him, Tear your clothes and gird yourselves with sackcloth, and mourn before Abner. And King David himself followed the bier.

26 And when Joab had gone out from David, he sent messengers after Abner, who brought him back from the well of Sirah; but David did not know it.
15 For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the army had gone up to bury the slain, after he had killed every male in Edom.
30 And Joab returned from pursuing Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, nineteen of David's servants and Asahel were missing.
24 Then Joab came to the king and said, What have you done? Behold, Abner came to you; why is it that you have sent him away, and he is quite gone?
13 And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went out, and met by the pool of Gibeon: and they sat down, one on one side of the pool, and the other on the other side of the pool.
14 And Abner said to Joab, Let the young men now arise and compete before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.
15 Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin, belonging to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.
16 So it happened, when Joab observed the city, that he assigned Uriah to a place where he knew there were valiant men.

9 Behold, he is hidden now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them are overthrown at the first, that whoever hears it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.
32 And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent to you, saying, Come here, that I may send you to the king, to say, Why did I come from Geshur? it would have been better for me to still be there: now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there is any iniquity in me, let him kill me.
