5What will you do in the appointed day, and in the day of the feast of the LORD?
1On the twenty-fourth day of this month, the children of Israel gathered with fasting and wearing sackcloth, and with earth upon them.
1Gather yourselves together, yes, gather together, O nation not desired;
2Before the decree comes forth, before the day passes like chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger comes upon you.
3Why have we fasted, they say, and you do not see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and you take no notice? Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure and exact all your labors.
4Behold, you fast for strife and debate and to strike with the fist of wickedness. You shall not fast as you do this day, to make your voice heard on high.
5Is this the fast that I have chosen? A day for a man to afflict his soul? Is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?
6Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?
1Blow the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming, for it is near at hand;
7Be silent in the presence of the Lord GOD: for the day of the LORD is at hand: for the LORD has prepared a sacrifice, He has consecrated His guests.
14The great day of the LORD is near, it is near, and hastens greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry out there bitterly.
5Declare in Judah, and proclaim in Jerusalem; and say, Blow the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the fortified cities.
11Assemble yourselves and come, all you nations, and gather yourselves together round about; cause your mighty ones to come down there, O LORD.

9The grain offering and the drink offering are cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD'S ministers, mourn.
17Thus says the LORD of hosts, Consider and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for the skilled women, that they may come:
18And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.
16Therefore the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord, says thus; Wailing shall be in all streets; and they shall say in all the highways, Alas! alas! and they shall call the farmer to mourning, and such as are skilled in lamentation to wailing.
8For this gird yourselves with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.
5Speak to all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh months, even those seventy years, did you at all fast to Me, even to Me?
3And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

7And on the tenth day of this seventh month, you shall have a holy assembly; and you shall humble yourselves: you shall not do any work in it:
10And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth upon all waists, and baldness upon every head; I will make it like mourning for an only son, and the end of it like a bitter day.
