Why have we fasted, they say, and you do not see? Why have we afflicted our soul, and you take no notice? Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure and exact all your labors.

15 And when you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you: indeed, when you make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
3 And I set my face toward the Lord God, to seek by prayer and petitions, with fasting, sackcloth, and ashes:
17 Do you not see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
7 And there is none who calls upon your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of you: for you have hidden your face from us, and have consumed us, because of our iniquities.
13 Therefore my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.
