And he said to them, What have I done now in comparison to you? Isn't the gleaning of the grapes of Ephraim better than the vintage of Abiezer?

16Now therefore, if you have dealt truly and sincerely, in that you have made Abimelech king, and if you have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and have done to him according to what he deserved—
17(For my father fought for you, risked his life, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian,
15And he came to the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, whom you taunted me about, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in your hand, that we should give bread to your men who are weary?
16And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth.
5And he said to the men of Succoth, Please give loaves of bread to the people who follow me; for they are faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian.

7And Gideon said, Therefore, when the LORD has delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into my hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers.
8And he went up from there to Penuel, and spoke to them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him.
2And the LORD said to Gideon, The people with you are too many for me to hand the Midianites over to you, lest Israel boast against me, saying, My own hand has saved me.
29David said, What have I done now? Is there not a cause?
13And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? But now the LORD has forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
14And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this your might, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?
15And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, how shall I save Israel? Behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.
11Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam and said to Samson, Do you not know that the Philistines rule over us? What is this you have done to us? He said to them, As they did to me, so have I done to them.
19If then you have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and his house today, then rejoice in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you.
18Then he said to Zebah and Zalmunna, What kind of men were they whom you killed at Tabor? And they answered, As you are, so were they; each one resembled the children of a king.
19And he said, They were my brothers, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD lives, if you had saved them alive, I would not kill you.

27And they went out into the fields, gathered their vineyards, trampled the grapes, and made merry, and went into the house of their god, and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech.
28And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? Isn’t he the son of Jerubbaal? And isn’t Zebul his officer? Serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem! Why should we serve him?
12And the tribes of Israel sent men throughout all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that is done among you?
48And Abimelech went up to mount Zalmon, he and all the people with him; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, cut down a branch from the trees, and took it and laid it on his shoulder, and said to the people with him, What you have seen me do, hurry and do likewise.
22Then the men of Israel said to Gideon, Rule over us, both you, and your son, and your grandson also: for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian.
17And he said to them, Look at me, and do likewise. Behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, as I do, so shall you do.
9And he said, What have I sinned, that you would deliver your servant into the hand of Ahab, to slay me?
29And they said one to another, Who has done this thing? And when they inquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash has done this thing.
25And now, are you any better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? Did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them,
2Please speak in the ears of all the men of Shechem, asking, Which is better for you, that all the sons of Jerubbaal, who are seventy persons, rule over you, or that one rules over you? Remember also that I am your own flesh and bone.
14And his friend answered and said, This is nothing else but the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel; for God has delivered Midian and all the army into his hand.
38Then Zebul said to him, Where is your mouth now, with which you said, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? Are not these the people you despised? Go out now, I pray, and fight with them.
18And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but you and your father's house have, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and you have followed Baalim.
9Do to them as to the Midianites; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook of Kishon:
33Then all the Midianites, the Amalekites, and the children of the east gathered together, went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel.
