2 And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said to Ezra, We have sinned against our God and have taken foreign wives from the peoples of the land, yet now there is hope for Israel in this matter.
3 Therefore, let us make a covenant with our God to put away all these wives and their children, according to the advice of my lord and those who tremble at the command of our God. Let it be done according to the law.
11 Judah has dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah has profaned the holiness of the LORD which he loved, and has married the daughter of a foreign god.
13 But there are many people, and it is a time of heavy rain, and we are not able to stand outside. Nor is this a task that can be accomplished in a day or two, for we have greatly transgressed in this matter.
14 Let our leaders of the entire assembly stand, and let all those in our cities who have taken foreign wives come at appointed times, together with the elders and judges of each city, until the fierce wrath of our God concerning this matter is turned away from us.
15 Only Jonathan the son of Asahel and Jahaziah the son of Tikvah opposed this, and Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite supported them.
12 Otherwise, if you do at all turn back, and join to the remnant of these nations, even those that remain among you, and make marriages with them, and go in to them, and they to you:
9 Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered at Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month. All the people sat in the street of the house of God, trembling because of this matter and because of the heavy rain.
10 And Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, You have transgressed and have taken foreign wives, adding to the guilt of Israel.
11 Now therefore make confession to the LORD, the God of your fathers, and do His will; separate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign wives.

15 In those days I saw people in Judah treading wine presses on the Sabbath, bringing in sheaves, and loading donkeys, as well as bringing in wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of burdens into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. And I warned them on the day they sold provisions.
23 And the children of Benjamin did so, and took wives according to their number, from those who danced, whom they caught; and they went and returned to their inheritance, and rebuilt the cities, and dwelt in them.
26 These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe.
