    44 The king sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, the Kerethites, and the Pelethites and they put him on the king’s mule.

    45 Then Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anointed him king in Gihon. They went up from there rejoicing, and the city is in an uproar. That is the sound you hear.

    46 Furthermore, Solomon has assumed the royal throne.

    12 Now let me give you some advice as to how you can save your life and your son Solomon’s life.

    13 Visit King David and say to him,‘My master, O king, did you not solemnly promise your servant,“Surely your son Solomon will be king after me; he will sit on my throne”? So why has Adonijah become king?’

  • 4 and the LORD will fulfill his promise to me,‘If your descendants watch their step and live faithfully in my presence with all their heart and being, then,’ he promised,‘you will not fail to have a successor on the throne of Israel.’

  • 24 Now, as certainly as the LORD lives(he who made me secure, allowed me to sit on my father David’s throne, and established a dynasty for me as he promised), Adonijah will be executed today!”

  • 14 If you follow my instructions by obeying my rules and regulations, just as your father David did, then I will grant you long life.”

  • 25 So now, O LORD God, make this promise you have made about your servant and his family a permanent reality. Do as you promised,

  • 7 When Hiram heard Solomon’s message, he was very happy. He said,“The LORD is worthy of praise today because he has given David a wise son to rule over this great nation.”
