8For when you offer blind animals as a sacrifice, is that not wrong? And when you offer the lame and sick, is that not wrong as well? Indeed, try offering them to your governor! Will he be pleased with you or show you favor?” asks the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.
6“Whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you took no delight in.
15Also, before they burned the fat the priest’s attendant would come and say to the person who was making the sacrifice,“Give some meat for the priest to roast! He won’t accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”
7Will the LORD accept a thousand rams, or ten thousand streams of olive oil? Should I give him my firstborn child as payment for my rebellion, my offspring– my own flesh and blood– for my sin?
20Then Samuel said to the people,“Don’t be afraid. You have indeed sinned. However, don’t turn aside from the LORD. Serve the LORD with all your heart.
21So Samuel listened to everything the people said and then reported it to the LORD.

1Saul Is Rejected as King Then Samuel said to Saul,“I was the one the LORD sent to anoint you as king over his people Israel. Now listen to what the LORD says.
22Even if you offer me burnt and grain offerings, I will not be satisfied; I will not look with favor on your peace offerings of fattened calves.
3The one who slaughters a bull also strikes down a man; the one who sacrifices a lamb also breaks a dog’s neck; the one who presents an offering includes pig’s blood with it; the one who offers incense also praises an idol. They have decided to behave this way; they enjoy these disgusting practices.
9So Saul said,“Bring me the burnt offering and the peace offerings.” Then he offered a burnt offering.
26However, if he should say,‘I do not take pleasure in you,’ then he will deal with me in a way that he considers appropriate.”
18So Samuel told him everything. He did not hold back anything from him. Eli said,“The LORD will do what he pleases.”
12I thought,‘Now the Philistines will come down on me at Gilgal and I have not sought the LORD’s favor.’ So I felt obligated to offer the burnt offering.”

31So Samuel followed Saul back, and Saul worshiped the LORD.
19Then you will accept the proper sacrifices, burnt sacrifices and whole offerings; then bulls will be sacrificed on your altar.
7But the LORD said to Samuel,“Don’t be impressed by his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. God does not view things the way men do. People look on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
