25The men of Israel said,“Have you seen this man who is coming up? He does so to defy Israel. But the king will make the man who can strike him down very wealthy! He will give him his daughter in marriage, and he will make his father’s house exempt from tax obligations in Israel.”
5On every mission on which Saul sent him, David achieved success. So Saul appointed him over the men of war. This pleased not only all the army, but also Saul’s servants.
6When the men arrived after David returned from striking down the Philistine, the women from all the cities of Israel came out singing and dancing to meet King Saul. They were happy as they played their tambourines and three-stringed instruments.

3The leaders of the Philistines asked,“What about these Hebrews?” Achish said to the leaders of the Philistines,“Isn’t this David, the servant of King Saul of Israel, who has been with me for quite some time? I have found no fault with him from the day of his defection until the present time!”
21David came to Saul and stood before him. Saul liked him a great deal, and he became his armor bearer.
22Then Saul sent word to Jesse saying,“Let David be my servant, for I really like him.”
12David realized that the LORD had established him as king over Israel and that he had elevated his kingdom for the sake of his people Israel.
13David married more concubines and wives from Jerusalem after he arrived from Hebron. Even more sons and daughters were born to David.
36All the people noticed this and it pleased them. In fact, everything the king did pleased all the people.
1¶ David Learns of the Deaths of Saul and Jonathan After the death of Saul, when David had returned from defeating the Amalekites, he stayed at Ziklag for two days.

16When David finished speaking these words to Saul, Saul said,“Is that your voice, my son David?” Then Saul wept loudly.
30The LORD will do for my lord everything that he promised you, and he will make you a leader over Israel.
23Now Michal, Saul’s daughter, had no children to the day of her death.
