6The LORD said,“Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known to him in a vision; I will speak with him in a dream.
5As for that prophet or dreamer, he must be executed because he encouraged rebellion against the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt, redeeming you from that place of slavery, and because he has tried to entice you from the way the LORD your God has commanded you to go. In this way you must purge out evil from within.
6False Prophets in the Family Suppose your own full brother, your son, your daughter, your beloved wife, or your closest friend should seduce you secretly and encourage you to go and serve other gods that neither you nor your ancestors have previously known,

15The LORD your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you– from your fellow Israelites; you must listen to him.
20“But if any prophet presumes to speak anything in my name that I have not authorized him to speak, or speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die.
21Now if you say to yourselves,‘How can we tell that a message is not from the LORD?’–
22whenever a prophet speaks in my name and the prediction is not fulfilled, then I have not spoken it; the prophet has presumed to speak it, so you need not fear him.”
12Punishment of Community Idolatry Suppose you should hear in one of your cities, which the LORD your God is giving you as a place to live, that
13some evil people have departed from among you to entice the inhabitants of their cities, saying,“Let’s go and serve other gods”(whom you have not known before).
14You must investigate thoroughly and inquire carefully. If it is indeed true that such a disgraceful thing is being done among you,
21Then if anyone says to you,‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or‘Look, there he is!’ do not believe him.
22For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, the elect.
1False Prophets Denounced Then the LORD’s message came to me:
2“Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel who are now prophesying. Say to the prophets who prophesy from their imagination:‘Listen to the LORD’s message!
3This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit but have seen nothing!
9So if a prophet prophesied peace and prosperity, it was only known that the LORD truly sent him when what he prophesied came true.”
8“For the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel says,‘Do not let the prophets among you or those who claim to be able to predict the future by divination deceive you. And do not pay any attention to the dreams that you are encouraging them to dream.
9They are prophesying lies to you and claiming my authority to do so. But I did not send them. I, the LORD, affirm it!’
11If a lying windbag should come and say,‘I’ll promise you blessings of wine and beer,’ he would be just the right preacher for these people!
24For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
33When all this comes true– and it certainly will– then they will know that a prophet was among them.”
18I will raise up a prophet like you for them from among their fellow Israelites. I will put my words in his mouth and he will speak to them whatever I command.
32I, the LORD, affirm that I am opposed to those prophets who dream up lies and report them. They are misleading my people with their reckless lies. I did not send them. I did not commission them. They are not helping these people at all. I, the LORD, affirm it!”
28Let the prophet who has had a dream go ahead and tell his dream. Let the person who has received my message report that message faithfully. What is like straw cannot compare to what is like grain! I, the LORD, affirm it!
25The LORD says,“I have heard what those prophets who are prophesying lies in my name are saying. They are saying,‘I have had a dream! I have had a dream!’
9“‘As for the prophet, if he is made a fool by being deceived into speaking a prophetic word– I, the LORD, have made a fool of that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand against him and destroy him from among my people Israel.
40Watch out, then, that what is spoken about by the prophets does not happen to you:
8“If they do not believe you or pay attention to the former sign, then they may believe the latter sign.
22Moses said,‘The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among your brothers. You must obey him in everything he tells you.
23Every person who does not obey that prophet will be destroyed and thus removed from the people.’
1Spies Sent Out The LORD spoke to Moses:
16The LORD of Heaven’s Armies says to the people of Jerusalem:“Do not listen to what those prophets are saying to you. They are filling you with false hopes. They are reporting visions of their own imaginations, not something the LORD has given them to say.
2Suppose a man or woman is discovered among you– in one of your villages that the LORD your God is giving you– who sins before the Lord your God and breaks his covenant
15In a dream, a night vision, when deep sleep falls on people as they sleep in their beds.
14Then the LORD said to me,“Those prophets are prophesying lies while claiming my authority! I did not send them. I did not commission them. I did not speak to them. They are prophesying to these people false visions, worthless predictions, and the delusions of their own mind.

6He said to them,“Listen to this dream I had:
17However, if you turn aside and do not obey, but are lured away to worship and serve other gods,
19“But if you people ever turn away from me, fail to obey the regulations and rules I instructed you to keep, and decide to serve and worship other gods,
3Your eyes have seen the great judgments, those signs and mighty wonders.
