    21the men of her city must bring the young woman to the door of her father’s house and stone her to death, for she has done a disgraceful thing in Israel by behaving like a prostitute while living in her father’s house. In this way you will purge evil from among you.

    22If a man is discovered in bed with a married woman both the man lying in bed with the woman and the woman herself must die; in this way you will purge evil from Israel.

  • 13Get up! Ritually consecrate the people and tell them this:‘Ritually consecrate yourselves for tomorrow, because this is what the LORD God of Israel has said,“You are contaminated, O Israel! You will not be able to stand before your enemies until you remove what is contaminating you.”

  • 30You must obey my charge not to practice any of the abominable statutes that have been done before you, so that you do not defile yourselves by them. I am the LORD your God.’”

    8they observed the practices of the nations whom the LORD had driven out from before them, and followed the example of the kings of Israel.

    9The Israelites said things about the LORD their God that were not right. They built high places in all their towns, from watchtower to fortified city.

  • 18Say this to the king of Judah, who sent you to seek an oracle from the LORD:“This is what the LORD God of Israel has said concerning the words you have heard:

  • 12The person who pays no attention to the priest currently serving the LORD your God there, or to the judge– that person must die, so that you may purge evil from Israel.

  • 21Then all the men of his city must stone him to death. In this way you will purge out wickedness from among you, and all Israel will hear about it and be afraid.

  • 31You must not worship the LORD your God the way they do! For everything that is abhorrent to him, everything he hates, they have done when worshiping their gods. They even burn up their sons and daughters before their gods!
