    1The Lord Recalls Israel’s Earlier Faithfulness The LORD’s message came to me,

  • 1The Lord’s Covenant Lawsuit against the Nation Israel Listen to the LORD’s message, you Israelites! For the LORD has a covenant lawsuit against the people of Israel. For there is neither faithfulness nor loyalty in the land, nor do they acknowledge God.

  • 15They must not profane the holy offerings which the Israelites contribute to the LORD,

  • 11For,’ I say,‘just as shorts cling tightly to a person’s body, so I bound the whole nation of Israel and the whole nation of Judah tightly to me.’ I intended for them to be my special people and to bring me fame, honor, and praise. But they would not obey me.

  • 4Israel and Judah Will Be Delivered after a Time of Deep Distress So here is what the LORD has to say about Israel and Judah.

  • 40For there on my holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD, all the house of Israel will serve me, all of them in the land. I will accept them there, and there I will seek your contributions and your choice gifts, with all your holy things.

  • 16In this way I will pass sentence on the people of Jerusalem and Judah because of all their wickedness. For they rejected me and offered sacrifices to other gods, worshiping what they made with their own hands.”

  • 9Honor the LORD from your wealth and from the first fruits of all your crops;

  • 16Israel has rebelled like a stubborn heifer! Soon the LORD will put them out to pasture like a lamb in a broad field!

  • 20So the LORD rejected all of Israel’s descendants; he humiliated them and handed them over to robbers, until he had thrown them from his presence.

  • 12“But you are profaning it by saying that the table of the Lord is common and its offerings despicable.

  • 14“Look! I am about to bring a nation against you, family of Israel.” The LORD, the God who commands armies, is speaking.“They will oppress you all the way from Lebo Hamath to the stream of the rift valley.”

  • 30This will happen because the people of Israel and Judah have repeatedly done what displeases me from their earliest history until now and because they have repeatedly made me angry by the things they have done. I, the LORD, affirm it!
