Verse 13

Saul died because of his unfaithfulness to the LORD. He did not keep the word of the LORD and even sought guidance from a medium to inquire of it.

She replied, "An old man is coming up, and he is wrapped in a robe." Then Saul knew it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground in reverence. 15 Samuel said to Saul, "Why have you disturbed me by bringing me up?" Saul answered, "I am deeply distressed. The Philistines are waging war against me, and God has turned away from me. He no longer answers me, not by prophets or by dreams. Therefore, I have called upon you to tell me what I should do." 16 Samuel said, "Why do you consult me, now that the LORD has turned away from you and has become your enemy? 17 The LORD has done as he spoke through me. He has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, to David. 18 Because you did not obey the voice of the LORD or carry out his fierce wrath against Amalek, the LORD has done this to you today. 19 Moreover, the LORD will deliver Israel along with you into the hands of the Philistines.
